Dummy Units -

Well, I' ve seen often maps using dummy units, BUT I somehow don't get it how, they do it that they are not visible, I mean if a dummy casts for example "shokwave"
it takes some time and if I remove the dummy too early it won't cast. So, my question is, how to do it that dummys are not seen?
