Dummy model, but with attachment points below ground

Probably a very silly request, but I'm trying to implement a "negative fly" system to allow "sinking" units/buildings into the ground. One of the ways I think this is possible is to have a special dummy model with attachment points below ground, e.g. with z coordinate of -1024. That way, I could set negative fly height by attaching special effects to said dummy.

I'm completely unfamiliar with the modelling workflow for warcraft, so I came here.

One other minor request regarding this - would it be possible to have a selection hitbox above ground, so that units which are "sunk" can still be selected normally, at least by click-dragging across them?

Huge kudos to whomever takes on this request. You'll be helping me out by a ton.

Here is vex's dummy with the attachment points set to -1024 in reference to the starting Z value of each attachment point.

Should be selecteable since selection hit boxes don't change height with the unit Afaik.
