Dota is an AoS like all the others.
The creator is Icefrog.

It currently contains about 90 heros (not sure what the exact number is)
Nearly every hero is unique and has triggered spells.
It is surly the most hosted game online.

Most mappers don't like dota because it is SO famous that it does not leave any place for other maps
The community is VERY unfriendly to newbies and "noobs"
Sadly the terrain just sucks :/

It's a hero vs hero map of 2 teams fighting along side with uncontrolled units. Most played/overplayed game on bnet. Most liked, most hated, and most "imitated" map probably. It's fun to play once in a while I admit.

Dota IS overrated.

But it is not only bad. It is one of the less REALLY balanced games. You won't find any other game that is as balanced as dota.

For example see footy. It is or was as famous as dota and it was NEVER balanced. So it died out

In the school i told my friend about warcraft 3 , that its good , many custom maps , easy making of your own maps , he just said he dont want play it... next year in the school he came to me and he said , hey Warcraft 3 is realy good , so i was thinking we can play some maps together and then he just , do you know DotA ? Thats the best game ever and he is still thinking anything on the Bnet except dota is worse...

Dota 3.8mb map or something like that, so its meant to be downloaded from the intranets. And you can find it from getdota.com, obviously.
