it's always hard for me to Ask for help , i always tell myself to face the challenge just by myself. But this time i could not deal with it anymore.

I just found that it's a hard work for me to control the scale of my map.I have focus on my map terrain for many years but every time after i finish my terrain, i would only got an dissatisfaction result. i have to break down all of them in order to start again. And as for the most important reason why i felt so bad ,that is scale, size of building ,trees and exc.

here is some shot of my map for example.

Northronin4.jpg
Northronin2.jpg
Northronin3.jpg
2rd edition

(And this time i will not kill this page)

And i want my terrain to be like this(disciples 3)

i could not catch a right size for everything i made, but as for the special effect or models , scene itself .......eh ,please do not worry about any problems in craft, i can deal with it easily. I only need some advice how to change the scale of my map just like that . Or , if you think this size is OK, that's fine too.

thanks.

First off... I think the scale is fine! but that's up to you.

ATM I'm working with like 1.5 value of scale (bigger models) and I found the best way to scale is to carry both the biggest and smallest units in your map everywhere, and just placing doodads with them around to see how they scale, when its done move onwards to the next area :)... takes a bit longer but provides the required results!

I'm confused. And you unsatisfied with the terrain it self. Or the scale of props... exc .exc. The terrain it self is fine. But if you're making a playable map. Maybe add more space where you can walk. I find it easy to detail the shit out of a small area. But you wont be able to move around much. But if your only talking about the scales. Then... Just make them smaller? Even though a 250x250 or whatever it is. But tell me what your main problem is. Your request for help makes sense to me.

Maybe use proper grammar. Its hard for me to read.

That's right,i know my grammar was bad,and i always get poor marks in grammar course.........but understand English is easy for me.and you see, Another purpose why i came here was to improve my English skill form study the way you guys talk.
may be extend the path will work, thanks

maybe My main problem was too abstract to understand,i will try my best to explain my goal more clearly .
That is to say, i want to create a special ambient just like disciples3,and my main propose is make my map does not look like a warcarft3 map , but a new game maybe. But i can not catch the way!i do not know how to change it completely......and that's what i'm worry about.

also thanks to residentV, i will try it .......maybe tomorrow

Haha! I was just thinking to ask the same thing :) Those are some pretty winter doodads! which trees are those? :O

EDIT: By the way regarding the scale, having a second look at it and the disciples pictures I would say you'd have to have your models large - with a human being half the size of a tree. I reckon if the view distance was far and more angled upwards and your models were larger the scaling would be exactly like that :p.

But you havent posted a picture with units so maybe its like that already <:

snow pines are wow models, but i did detailed some of these texture myself .
let's see if i can found them.......

Pretty easy to achieve what you're aiming for. Just don't use anything from the word editor and use other props from other games. Or just make your terrain very surreal.

Oh and if you're here to learn a bit of English as well. Then check this thread out. And check out these surreal pictures as examples.

I'd love to know if the snow is a doodad or if you edited the weather.slk. If any of those, could you share on where you got it or how you did it?
I'm working on a winter themed map as well an i like it a lot!

There are just few doodads in disproportion with the whole environment, but proportion here is also related to the units he will be using, since i assume it's a playable terrain.

Thanks for the tree, it's something i've been looking for a long time. I've a question..
What's the name of the game you're taking ideas from?

Good luck with your exam!
