A fair while ago I played an Everquest ORPG map on battle.net.One of its features that really set it apart was the mini-map display.

Somehow, the author managed to display a small portion of the mini-map, depending on the zone you were in. For example, if you were in a town, the town is all you would see on the minimap. In other words, it was as though the author was changing the camera bounds in game.

Does anyone know how to do this? :) If so, what triggers would I need to use?

    Thanks in advance! :)

So did he change camera bounds?
Or were you able to look around the entire map, even though the minimap just showed a small portion?

Because you can change camera bounds ingame:
    • Camera - Set the camera bounds for Player 1 (Red) to (Entire map)

If the minimap display showed a different area every time... Well I'll be. People all over the place told me it was impossible after me trying a billion times.

Camera bounds will lock the mini-map on a specific region, which is not good, since it won't display properly... For example, your hero might be in the center, but it might be shown on the edge of the town...

Simply, I think it a bit useless, DZ already explained how to bound the camera.

Destroy the fog modifier, Check for every player their X and Y coordinates of CameraTargetPosition, then create a fogmodifier for that player again which enables sight within reach.. Save the fog modifier.. rerun this proces.

The author limited the camera bounds.

I believe I have played this map before.

No, if you limit the camera bounds you will get get the whole minimap displayed, not only a certain region.

The only way I see something like this as possible is that that campaign in fact had multiple maps. And you loaded a new map when entering a new zone. (Campaign style). That way the minimap can change.
