Diablo 3 with a joystick... the hell of diablo 1 has returned.
Not true...

Diablo I was a simple PC port to the PS1 with very little modifications made to improve playability.
Diablo III is being heavilly modified to fit the PS3/PS4 with features the consol is only planned to have. One might even argue it is being remade for the consols (as opposed to ported) which means it will be both highly optimized and easier to use.

I am guessing Diablo III will play a lot like a fighting game. Simple attacks will be executed at a press of a single button in the direction you are currently facing. Movement will use one of the analogue pads. Ranged attacks (that are harder with this control scheme) will probably auto-target enemies vaguley in that direction, like if you click an enemy in the PC version.

The inventory and skill scheme is being optimized for selection as well, with items appearing as a easy to navigate list and skills probably something similar.

Apparently there will be no cross play support and neither will any of the PC/PS3-4 features be cross ported to each other. You cannot play on the PC with PS3/4 friends. You cannot use a Xbox 360 controler on the PC version. You cannot use a mouse and keyboard on the PS3/4 version. This seems a rather silly move by Blizzard but I suspect the lack of cross-play is Sony demanding full control over the server authentication system (which conflicts with BattleNet 2.0).
