Diablo II BETA ver. 0.75

Hi!
This map is my version of Diablo2 Act I. It's not finished but I hope it will be soon. :) In this version (0.36) you can choose only one hero to play (warrior).

Gameplay is the same as it was in D2 but there are changes in hero abilities tree because I want to give 30 abilities per hero (for now there are only 16). Items which you'll gather in the middle of doing quest and slaying monsters are randomly generated so there are many combinations to find (gray - with socket, white - normal, blue - magic and green - unique).

Like I said, this map isn't finished so it probably has a lots of bugs but I'm still working on it. :)

This map is made as a campaign and is using game cache to store your hero. There are some places game will save your progress by itself but if you want to do it manually just write -save. And one thing, don't use standard W3 saving - it will crash the game when you will try to load it.

IMPORTANT! Before you leave the game, write -save and when you want to load it just start the map and then choose "load your hero" from campaign window.

Map is finished but there are lots of bugs I guess. More important is that in general all things should work. :)

Gilles: Well made game. Although there are a few descriptions that seem to be in another language, or are scrambled. I suggest you fix these. But the game is playable. I recommend this map if you like RPGs. -Approved-

New version available.

0.42 changelog:
- abilities points increased form 4 to 5,
- window with statistics points doesn’t popup automatically after your hero gains level (there is new icon below hero’s icon),
- little changes in graphic (terrain fog, lighting, etc),
- added some new effects (blood after killing monsters, filter when opening inventory/abilities),
- mercenary’s attack speed decreased,
- some little changes.

There is a problem with updating the map so for now I give you direct link:

I admire the whole work You put into this map, it required both great mapmaking knowledge and a lot of time, but I must say that in my opinion, you didn't take the right direction :/

The interface is very unfriendly and definitely not comfortable. For a good skill picking system, look at this map:

Also some beta version of next Heroes & Armies had a nice one, a whole tree that appeared on the screen, but I don't really remember the name, and there's a lot of fakes of that map.

For a good inventory system, look at this:

Attribute picking is fine, though I'd rather have it as a shop, not those tabs. Here's another example. I'd recommend generally checking this map out, it get's boring, but there's a lot of great ideas in it that might inspire you.

Rexxar's campaign is a good example of an enjoyable RPG campaign.

Terrain could use some more love, the caster model doesn't really fit, just a normal Blood Mage would be better, but that's my opinion.

And now what's flawed the most, imo. Gameplay is so plain. You just run around and kill creeps. For an RPG to be fun in wc3, you need to make some AI action and/or interesting quests, not just "kill and fetch item".

And finally. Why are you remaking a game in another game? It NEVER works. It would take a huge squad of top-notch mapmakers to make a wc3 Diablo map comparable to the original Diablo. And still, better solution would be to play the normal Diablo, than some wc3 clone.

To sum up. The quality is great, you showed some great skills in the mapmaking, but the result isn't enjoyable. It's just not fun to play, for me. If you continue mapmaking after finishing this, I hope you decide on making something more original and suiting the world of Warcraft 3 ;)

I tried to do different inventory system than in other maps. I’m fully aware that it isn’t very user-friendly and if I know how to I would make it working with mouse-pointing style.

Gameplay is the same as it is in Diablo (you kill creeps for better items and higher level) so if you don’t like diablo type of games it’s obvious you’ll find my map boring. This map is h&s not RPG so quests are rather an add-on.

Never say never. :p I know it’s better to play original game rather than a warcraft version but I think well remade game it’s worth playing as well.

To sum up. The quality is great, you showed some great skills in the mapmaking, but the result isn't enjoyable. It's just not fun to play, for me.
Fortunately some people really like it. :)

If you continue mapmaking after finishing this, I hope you decide on making something more original and suiting the world of Warcraft 3 ;)
Try my RPG map (http://www.hiveworkshop.com/forums/maps.php?id=p6n6xa). It’s much more fitting the W3 world (I suggest you to download a Polish version Arcane MPQ :: Zobacz temat - Role Playing Game by Vodzoo - my English isn’t perfect :p).

Well, remaking games in wc3 works, but for GameBoy games ;) Seriously, remaking Fire Emblem surely could work, heh. But Diablo 2 is too advanced for that.

I'll check out the RPG, but in English. My warcraft is English, so I don't see Polish letters :/

Btw, it's Rogue Encampment, not Rouge.

Anyway, good luck with your projects.

0.43 changelog:
- from now on you can only use a unique name for each hero (two or more heroes with the same name caused a game bug),
- added shrines with random buff (eg. damge boost, speed boost).

This map is excellent, beyond 5 stars. I don't care if it's not done, the kick ass inventory and skill screens are original and almost unparalleled (at least from what I've seen), and the map is very fun.

There are only 3 things on my mind that bug me right now (version .44).

Cain won't let me talk to him even though I beat the quest.

I don't get why your change log says you nerfed the merc when she is so weak.

And it seems like my defense isn't making me take any less damage.

Otherwise, loving the map, so keep working on it! :grin:

Oh, one more thing. Using critical strike for the bonus damage was pretty genius, good job on that. :thumbs_up:

My game crash when I load my warrior save, my save is on the mission to defeat Andreal or some devil like that. Right after I finish the smith quest. If you need my save file I can sent it to you. Thanks to fix my bug.

I don't like bugs like that. It's very likely that it can't be fixed. :angry: Send it to: vodzoo_at_interia.pl and I'll check it on other versions.

Btw, you could write something about the map, gameplay, bugs, ect. Is is worth playing? Maybe I should change/improve something? Comments are welcome. :grin:

Good game, but there is a bug with the loading hero, like some unused items disappear, doubles of heroes appear, sometimes clicking on a hero changes it into another hero. thats all I found, and just an idea but maybe add a command so your camera goes back to its normal position if you accidentally scroll down, turn camera sideways, etc.

Sorry if you reply to me, I might not reply back. school.

Do you mean items form backpack? If you do, that's not a bug.

There is such a command. Just write -camera.

Duno how start zzzz.....

I just download this map and try to play...
But after i load my (Warrior) character, i just see a box...

Still cant =.=?!

You have to point the item you want to take off with arrows first. Put on (S) is working only when you're pointing an item in backpack.

I point the arrow on the weapon or icon and click H (Take off)
But nothing happen and i just see the character keep Hold position only =.=?

I was using 1.21a TFT Patch.
Izit i need to update or how? :bored:

Well, you have to point it with keyboard arrows, not mouse! If you look at your inventory you’ll see an icon above WEAPON which indicates your current position. If you point any item you’ll see its description and magical features below.

You can edit map and check out the triggers. Unfortunately the inventory and abilities systems aren't sepatate from others triggers so there will be problem. There are lots of triggers that are connected with the system and they are in different places.

uhmmm, i played this and it looks good and all but i cant figure out how to change weapons and upgrade mi skills and everything tho lol

Use keyboard arrows to navigate in Inventory and Abilities window. "S" and "H" are used for changing and taking off your stuff in Inventory window. "S" is also used for spending abilities points in Abilities window.

PS Map is completed.

hmmm, am i the only one that cant play this?
Its like, i create a guy, name him as i want(i tried the 3 classes alredy) and then what i do? I put load character or somethin, and my guy appears, i click him and put plya with this char, but then it goes right back to the campaign menu of this campaign, is this some kind of bug? pleaz help me i wanna really test it.
