Diablo II BETA ver. 0.75

Hi!
This map is my version of Diablo2 Act I. It's not finished but I hope it will be soon. :) In this version (0.36) you can choose only one hero to play (warrior).

Gameplay is the same as it was in D2 but there are changes in hero abilities tree because I want to give 30 abilities per hero (for now there are only 16). Items which you'll gather in the middle of doing quest and slaying monsters are randomly generated so there are many combinations to find (gray - with socket, white - normal, blue - magic and green - unique).

Like I said, this map isn't finished so it probably has a lots of bugs but I'm still working on it. :)

This map is made as a campaign and is using game cache to store your hero. There are some places game will save your progress by itself but if you want to do it manually just write -save. And one thing, don't use standard W3 saving - it will crash the game when you will try to load it.

IMPORTANT! Before you leave the game, write -save and when you want to load it just start the map and then choose "load your hero" from campaign window.

I hope you like it!

Map is finished but there are lots of bugs I guess. More important is that in general all things should work. :)

Greetings. I downloaded and tested your campaing. At first I though "oh great another lame map with nothing interesting to offer", but I was wrong. I really like equip system and skill system, terrain is not bad either. Hope you make an update with more classes and acts.
There is one bad thing about this. It is not original, we all played diablo and we all know quests, bosses, etc.

WOW- AWESOME :D

But how i can change weapons? hotkey dont want work...(S and U)
May has something to do with that "Stop" has also the hotkey S?

How can i learn skills?

You should also improve the char-load scene, because you can see invetory and and and, so you sometimes dont know which is your character
also ad the option "cancel" in the dialoge, so that you dont have to load or to delete a character if you have clicked it :) ^^

All in one, very good map, i would rate 8 or 9, but i will wait till i can give you a full 10 :)

Demoneater - Just use "H" when you're asked to press "U" ("U" is hotkey for "hold position" order in Polish version of WIII and I just forgot to change that).

To learn skills just press "S" when your abilities window is open.



Kettle - my plan is to create 3 classes: warrior, archer and caster. I've just done making the terrain so next thing is creating abilities for warrior (I plan to give 30 abilities per hero).

PS You can also can use code -playerX to gain more expirience (X = 1 - 9)

I (and I guess many other ppl) can really see that you spend MASS time in this map - and it is it worth to play it!

btw, can I sell weapons with a way you may know? :) what does all the shortways (=abkürzung solls heissen, sollten hier deutsche sein ^^) mean after name of a weapon? (i guess classes...)
What about a MP Version of the Map? :D
I figured out hot wo learn, i tried with mousebutton but you have to do it with keyboardcursors

You should make a kind of tutorial, manual (eg as a quest) or whatever to make it
easier :)

but as i have said, superb map, love it! ;)

To sell items press “H” when your Inventory is open and you’re standing close to Akara or Charsi.

(TH) – two-handed weapons, highest damage, lowest attack rate (hero can’t use shields)
(S) – small weapons, highest attack rate, lowest damage
Rest of weapons are normal and don’t have any shortcut next to its name.

I was doing it for MP but when I realized that game cache is working only in SP the game became SP also. :) The good thing is that you don’t have to create new hero after updating this map.

There will be some kind of tutorial but first of all I want to finish map itself. I didn’t have much time to test it’s difficulty level so it may be too hard at the end.

Afair i was unable to ^ZOMG ehm mount 2handed..but i will try again (€: <-argh of cours i have to dismount the shield ^^ i tried it where i didnt knew for what TH is for ;))

maybe i also could help you? i could make the infocardmanual if you wish, wouldnt be that hard, then you just have to create the quest@beginning and paste it

When the map status is advanced i also could make a german translation for another players :)
(I really love this map so I really want to support you! ;))

Do the quests give experience or something? for the first one i didnt got anything
i also miss some items/weapons which i can buy ^^

btw, you could ask

You can make this infocardmanual if you want to help. I also need help with abilities for warrior. At this moment there are 16 (8 visible at the beginning and additional 8 when you reach level 10).

Quests are the same as they were in D2 so you don't gain exp from comleting them. When you finish first quest you'll be given 4 skill points to spend in abilities (check abilities window). Second quest will give you mercenary, third - random magic ring. Fourth and fifth - nothing at this moment but that will be changed. Sixth - haven't create it yet. ;P

Yes, you cannot save your unmounted weapons/equipment. Always remember to sell them before you leave the game because you'll lost them anyway.

Bugs/Issues:
*Mana Potion heal 100 mana, not 200 like it is written in infocard
*if mercenary died and you go to dings first (this person who heal you + sell you items) and then go to the mercenary-seller, she dont will get revived (<- I am very sure about this)
*some polish infocards (heal potion, mana potion, afair if you kill one of bloodravens servants)
*Bloodraven in my opionen to hard (I was only able to get it with Townportal) (means i attack him and if i am close to death, i use TP then heal, buy a new TP + heal potion, again and again.)
* After a time it seems that you dont get better equipment, no matter where you kill enemys (I guess you set it to global, try to make it more regional - should work with area/zones I think...)
*Quest are "incomplete", you get field message and same message in quest log, but the end is missing

It was also hard that agility determine the hit quote/hit %

you may overread it; there is afaik the possibility to save such things even in MP

*I also miss weapons which I can buy, I have MASS GOLD left (7000...)
You may also could use original D2 dialogues? So then I had remember that there are gifts for completing quests ^^

* Ground stomp do really lure enemys to you, even if they are far away and this sucks ^^
* it sucks to load character again if you die, afaik it is possible to trigger that you lose all your unmounted weapons, what do you think about? (then of course you revive in camp)

Thanks for bugs. I’ll take care of them. :)

Some explanation about issues:
- bloodraven – I think I’d rather make healing potion heals more hp per second (btw, Andariel is harder :p)
- better equipment – there are two levels of each item and yes, it’s set global but if you kill enemies with higher level it’s better chance this item will be magic or unique (chance that killed monster will drop an item = level of killed monster but minimum 25%; chance that monster will drop another item = level of killed monster; chance that dropped item will be magic = level of killed monster divided by 10; chance that dropped item will be unique = level of killed monster divided by 100)
- chance to hit = ((attacking unit’s agility divided by its level) * 100) – (attacked unit’s defense divided by 10) so if your agility equals your level then chance to hit monsters = 100% - monster’s defense divided by 10. If your agility is higher then the chance is bigger.
- mass gold – try to hazard with Gheed in Rouge Encampment. I assure you, you’ll be as poor as mouse. :)
- original dialogs – I have them in .txt. Adding them it’s just matter of time. :p
- ground stomp – well, I have to check this ability
- dying – I know this sucks. I’ll change it the way you wrote it.

If you mean tha guy who is always talking "As least you dont have 500 Gold" and even dont do anything if you have it, then yes. ^^

But what about selling weapons? but this isnt the most important point, you can do this later
but it cant be that you can get strong weapons in the beginning which you can use until the end (you could try it with giving the items levels - then you can set for beginning "random lv 0 weapon blabla" ^^

Dont remember, was Andariel the boss after him, who uses paralyze against you? then he isnt, because you have then a mercenary who will track him down while he is attacking and paralyzing you ;) (or reduce attack speed of Andariel with Ground Stomp)

It is maybe also possible to make items stable? means if you have 3 HP Potions and you pick up 5, then you have 8 in one slot.

btw, I played it yesterday ~11 hours without great breaks x_X ^^

He doesn’t do anything when you FIRST “click” him because he’s telling you what you can do “with him”. Next “click” will trigger hazard (you’ll hear a specific sound) but not always item will be won.

Yes, there is possibility that you’ll get the best weapon even on first killed monster. I know it shouldn’t be that way and I have that in mind all the time.

WOW! That’s all I can say. I’m glad you like it. I hope I’ll manage to fix all the problems you’ve listed but I don’t have much time (I’m working 8:00-17:00). :(

* HP Bars vanish when you are in low hp mode (where you can hear your heart beating)
* Mercenary sometimes block the way, only possibilitys are to get rid of it or reload Character. You just need to reduce its "true" size :)

And I dont really know where I have to go to in the last, sixth quest...

You have to find the bidge which leads to the next area. You have to "kill" the gates of course. :p

I'll probably upload new version of the map tomorrow (1. I added an action to the mercenary - when you're close to him and right-cklick on him he'll move from you - I hope this will prevent from blocking the way; 2. I've made the last quest. Quest giver - Decard Cain).

Important issus which should be can fixed very easy:
*Change Hotkey "U" to "S" (or whatever it was..? Sell/drop weapons was it afair)
*Translate the few Infocards to english
* Correct the regenerating value of mana portion

Yes, this is intended. Ranged weapons will be usable only by the Archer.

0.38 change log:
- Last quest added (Sisters To The Slaughter).
- Fixed problem with mercenary’s reviving.
- Right clicking on mercenary (when you’re close to her) will make her to move away from hero.
- Potions now have cooldowns.
- Changed mana and healing potion descriptions.

I would like to see that you can learn the new skills one after another, and not that all become learnable after you reach level 10

I really didn't know how to solve the problem with skills learning so I divided them in groups. The first group is visible at the beginning (8 abilities), second after reaching 10th lvl (8 abilities), third after reaching 20th lvl (8 abilities) and maybe (don't know yet) fourth after reaching 30th lvl (6 abilities).

As far as I remember she can't sell items but it's still work in progress so nothing is final. ;P

You may should add a tooltipp for this as a skill-ability of the mercenary, so newbies will now this

Thunderclap: Still polish tooltipp, the other issue still exist. I guess it could have to do smth. with the AoE, you may should check this

If you enter inner closter, you also get a polish info (has something to do with black archers)

The other ability (familiar to berserk): It is just tooltipp or does it really increase the damage you get if you activate it? then this skill would be useless I guess because there are max 2 units, in normal WC3 you have mass more so these units which use berserk maya didnt get hit

the box at the camp dont really work, you cant put items in it

maybe a feature to store some unequipped weapons?

may not only 2 potions because they get weaker and weaker compared how far you are in the game and afair in D2 there isnt only 1 Heal Potion

Dunno why, but now when I am trying to load my game (via load hero level) my game crashes...
I was at last quest, but it could have to do with ANYTHING...
Or could it have to do with the unique item I found?
It happens direct after I klicked "ok" on the "For Invetory Fo skills blabla" screen

Fixed. Yes, ability increased damage takem form enemies but I removed this.

Should work now. Just drop an item from inventory while standing next to the box.

It's lots of work, that's why I abandoned this.

For now I only balanced loot. I mean drop table is the same but changes have gotten in system of damage/defense. If you have, for instance,

weapon with 50-90 random damage, the pattern will be:
min. damage: 50
max. damage: min. dmg. + ( (max. dmg. - min. dmg.) * ((level of dying enemy * 4)/100)) )
so if you'll kill a fallen (lvl 5) you'll get random damage 50-58

It's hazard so it's possible

This is also aspect of loot balance - higher enemy level = better chance to get two or even more items from killing. Luck increases your chance to get unique/magic item, not an item itself.

No it's not possible but I have lost some items too. It's probably bug but I can't locate it at this moment.

Warrior is weak at mana usage. Archer and Caster will have capability of mana regeneration.
