Deleteing things in object editor - problems

i don´t know why but i guess it is some kind of very stupid blizzard´s bug

sometimes when i delete an ability it knows to happen that other units will get some new ability

instead of just unknownXXXX they get new ability -.-

it happens when deleting dome other tings too...

is there any way to fix that ?
or do i have to go to every unit and delete the unknownXXX crap

When you add an ability, it adds the ID.

A000

When you delete that one, the label "A000" is free, so the next ability you make, will get it. This just adds the label to the new ability, thus, making the unit have the new ability.


Example:

I create a new ability. It gets the code A000.
I give it to my unit.
My unit now has "ability A000"
I then make another couple, lets say I get up to, A005. (so i created 6 abilities, A000, A001, A002, A003, A004, A005)
I then find I don't want ability A000.
I delete it.
The tag "A000" goes back into the pool of "free tags"
So when I create the next ability, it gets A000.
The unit I gave that too, only knows A000, it doesn't know the difference.

At least, that is my understanding of it, :grin:

I might be wrong, but that is how I think it works.

So not a bug, just the way they made it, so that the codes don't get wasted. If I create A000 - A500, and then delete them all, I can reuse all of the codes. This is such that we don't have a memory leak like issue with the codes. Having so many, I don't see why it really matters, but, that is the way they did it.

yes but firstly its stupid bug,why they don´t delete unknownXXX

its not just when i delete ability and make new,its just when i delete it,its annoying if you have more units and you have to check all them,but i guess there is no way to fix that

only if there is an option like delete all unknown things :con:
