Oh yeah, the reunion thing. Ugh, I had 40 towers and had one after the scene. Then I somehow rebuilt. But it still sucked. Oh well. At least I lived. But that really shouldn't happen. If I had less towers, my base would be gone.

Yeah, it is true that your base is actually supposed to be set back a little (to add on the building-part of the map) after the cinematic, while still being fair. I hope it wasn't too bad game design ..

Chapter 1--- Footman at entrance of Hasic turned evil and attacked everyone vulnerable. And if you stand next to a priest as Rhonin and use patrol the dragon will constantly attack you, but you won't die.
Chapter 7--- I had to restart because when I kill the Fire Golem, it didn't go to Cut scene. And Kryll didn't leave.
Chapter 10--- When I used the party heal that Alexstraza had, it healed Deathwing not my people.

Anyway I loved the entire game. Escpecially the final battle with the Aspects. 6/5
Where did you get those dragon models!? Please tell me. I could really use the Ysera, Alexstraza, and Deathwing models. Really bad for my Dragonflights map.

Their were ripped from WoW. I had all of them recolored (except the Icedragon-Model and Nozdormu, which already existed at wc3sear.ch).

You may use them freely. Credit "Rondo" for the recoloring if you like. Rest I forgot who did what.

They were created with the Druid of the Talon as the basis which automatically understands the difference between land form and flight form in a model's animation. Though I had to use different skills for each dragon to produce the actual take off/land button (Crypt Fiend Burrow, Bear Form, Raven Form

You may study those units for your own reference in Chapter 8 (10.DayoftheDragon.w3x) of my campaign in the editor. Or just copy the units and the abilities directly into your map, it's OK! (Hell, if other projects weren't open source then my campaigns wouldn't be half as good. But I totally understand the need for copy-protection. Some projects need the uniqueness to stay alive)

hey I'm stuck on the fifth chapter, after meeting malygos with the tuskarrs, I get teleported back infront of the dalaran cave. And when I walk into it the whole chapter resets and I've been walkin' around the whole place looking for some other way, aint finding any though .

After you are done with Malygos you are supposed to go back to Dalaran and enter one of the other Dragons' realms.

Please ellaborate in a little more detail what you mean by "the whole chapter resets".

Great campaign. One question, I am stuck in chapter 4 island 3. I cannot find the wheat and chicken. How do you solve this puzzle? Also I can also not cross the road to the other island near the ressurrection stone.

I think he means that it starts over like it's just loaded for the first time. Like he goes through the portal back to dalaran, it loads. And the opening cinematic plays again. I think that's what he means.

I have no idea why this happens, only that loading sub-maps is a little more complex than average triggers so stuff like this might happen (even though never when I tested it).

You could try to cheat your way through the map or start with another sub-map first, and see if it happens again.

great campaign so far (im only on chap 4)
just one question about chapter 4
what do i have to put into the fire pit to get passed the explosive barrel

edit: dam i feel dumb, i found out after attacking a rock
but now i cannot finish murderer quest because i cant the police guy and drog (who i think is the murderer) have !s above their heads but they either have no dialogue or the same dialogue.
any ideas?

Hmm it's been a long time ago but I'll try to remember the basics:

Each suspect will have a maximum of 4 different topics to talk about. If some don't it means you didn't research enough. Check their houses for example. Ask about the murder weapon, or relations with the victim. Check with the police officer after each answer.

Loved this campaign. I read the book when I was little and I loved it. Loved all the spells, hero design, and missions. My favorite part was the dragon aspects vs deathwing. 5/5

rotating the camera was the "riddle" in this part, which (as a hint I give you here, if you haven't done that part already) you will have to do one more time on the fourth isle. I hope people really understood it as a riddle and not as something irritating.

Hmm some of you obviously didn't read the readme.txt that was supposed to go with the campaign. Day of the Dragon was supposed to be my last campaign. I write "was" because I changed my mind some time ago. The wait for Starcraft 2 is killing me so I started another campaign-to-book: The Last Guardian.

I'm currently working on the last chapter making it alpha-complete and I hope to be done with all the alpha/beta-bugfixing stuff sometime during the summer.

I guess I will create a proper forum thread some time in the future before the campaign is released to get more and proper feedback.

Back in 2002 I started doing one testmap based on Lord of the Clans without ever having read the book, just by the mini-description you get in the manual. Then I decided to buy it (along with a Starcraft book), but I first of all just to read the story, mapping came second.

When I read the book, automatically ideas popped up in my head of how I could turn it into something playable. This is a process that comes very natural now. Whenever I read a WC or SC novel I see how this could be formed into a campaign, but I don't necessarily feel the need to create one when I see that it could work.

Reading comes always first.

There are more reasons why I stick to books.
I like to have as little work as possible, so I don't want to bother with making up a story (that will not fit into the WC lore, or people may not like anyway), any model/skin I use is made by someone else. Rarely something is done uniquely for the campaign (Dragon models in DotD). I like to focus on gameplay and level design.

So, why those three books you ask?

LotC because I'm an orc fan and because it was the first book.

DotD because it was my second WC book and because it allowed me to explore more possibilities with the editor from a story-perspective (more characters, different points of view, more focus on skills and real missions instead of mini-games).

TLG because I wanted a project that was much smaller and easier to produce, (half the story plays inside Karazhan so I can reuse maps more often. Many triger systems reappear in varied ways) and because it would give a unique experience (real adventure-like riddles giving a player an experience that I lacked to give him in LotC. Don't expect it to be anything like DotD or LotC).

I would have liked to make many more campaigns out of books but time has become limited. LotC took 2,5 years, DotD 1,5, TLG 1,5 also (always many breaks inbetween). I'll just wrap TLG up in summer and wait for SC2.

(my longest post ever here. Hope people read it, but don't get all emotional ;D. Please keep more comments coming. I'm always interested in people's opinions about what I do for fun).

Well, when i was first making LotC the expecation to actually finish and release it came very late, but I never put it aside to make something entirely else. Hence, it took 2,5 years to complete.

I guess many people have so many ideas while working on a project and realise some day that they won't fit them all into the project. They also plan too big: Entire MMOs, RPGs with many 256x256 maps and all very very epic.

When I fix the genral concept of a campaign I try to fit as much of the storyline into as few maps as possible. I also try to see how I could make a campaign with the stuff (models, skins, sounds, spells) that already exist within the editor or via download. Additional stuff is always optional eye-candy. Never a must to get a feature done (Thrall in LotC would have been a normal Grunt if I hadn't found a proper walking Thrall).

But it always gets bigger after that.

DotD is the best example:
originally the campaign was supposed to have 5-6 maps, while telling the storyline only from Rhonin's perspective. Then I realised that the story would have felt butchered without including more of Vereesa and Falstad, and also Krasus role was more important that I wanted to admit in the early stages.

So my best advice is to plan as small as possible. You can always get bigger after that.

It would be great but there are some problems with that.
1.First of all I don't trust that many people have good enough voices.
2.And even if they are very good, immersion will be lost if I let unknown voice actors voice famous WC characters from the games.
3.I don't like the idea of putting a project into the hands of other people for a long time.
4.There is sooo much text. So much to work for the actors, too much size for the campaign.
5.I translate every campaign into german and I would have to look for german voice actors as well because I don't want any language-version to be favored.
