custom model needs fitting skins

Hi all
I've finally just learnt how to model. Hurray. yippee for me. But! all is not well. Now that I have this model it needs a skin. UH HO! Now obviously I can't just paint over a skin from blizzard because they won't wrap around my custom model. What I need to know is how I create a skin from scratch to suit my model. Any advice would be great.

btw. It's a frodo model that can fight and is completely custom, no basing on existing models. It's for my up and coming campaign.

heres how to UV unwrap. in other words, make your own skin from scratch for the model.
