Create unit without adding to "Units Created"?

Is it possible somehow to create a unit for a specific player, without increasing the "Units Created" statistic?
Alternatively, is it possible to change that statistic?

Apparently it seems that's the case.
I tried some things but even creating the unit and switching players afterwards will result in the unit to be accounted to the new owner.

You could make an 'extra' player and make them share color and unit control.
