HI, i have tried to play this, but everytime i pick a character it crashes.. any idea how to fix this? my WC3 is 1.24d btw

Do you have your Warcraft III graphic settings set to max?
There has been a known issue within the map where people disconnect after loading if there graphics are not set to max, so that may be your problem. If not then...
What version of the map are you trying to play with? Are you sure it is an official version? The latest official version can be downloaded here:

You could also try to play it in single player. Does that help?
