Common causes of people being disconnected as the map starts?

Loading/preloading way too much stuff at once (on init usually) on computers with different capabilities is the biggest one I know of. I have always staggered all of my preloading and setup triggers to run at elapsed game-time 0.50 or later just to give slower computers a moment to catch up when the game initially loads. Put a black mask over the whole map on init and nobody will notice as you fade it out after all has loaded.
