Chat Bot Rules

So the rules for chat bots say that they must do nothing unless asked to.

Well I am developing a bot that I'd like to mount on The Hive Workshop's Chat, and I thought it would be a nice feature to tell random jokes or interesting facts every 5 minutes.

This is neither spam nor advertising and it will not flood the chat room.

Is this allowed?

Just follow the bot rules and you will be fine.

If it had an unlimited amount of dick jokes in its library it would be fine with me. But I doubt that it has, so you should just follow the rules, nobody likes unfunny jokes that constantly gets repeated.

If users ever get the option to host channels, you could do that in your own channel, and people could join there, but these really no way this wouldn't annoy everybody who didn't voluntarily allow it.

Speaking the truth, I have no idea what ajax is and I know no javascript...
All I know is sockets, sockets and more sockets. They are also faster than web requests.

they may be, but the chat was designed with javascript+ajax in mind so it doesn't support direct sockets I think.
