It decides how the unit will interact with the environment when moving. There are options for how the unit finds it's paths. A flying unit will fly over hills while walking units will walk around the hill. You can also chose the height map. Height map will affect the unit height when going up or down from hills. Flying units will hover a bit above the ground while ground units will stick to the ground.
