Carbine

Finally, i can prowdly present my model for the covenant carbine seen in the halo 2 and 3 games.
This is a fairly highpoly version, wich is something i wanted to do since i otherwise always sacrifice kickassness for size efficiency, but if anyone needs a lowpoly version just PM me and i might fix that for you. It even has a separate material for the ammo circle to make it glow in the dark; if you are in dire need of saving space you can merge those materials in magos, but seriously, it's barely a single kb saved.

Note that this is model is made to fit on my jackal model (still unposted) and might therefore look funny if held in the left hand, if you need it to be held left you might want to movie it some to the right in a model editor. It should still work for both though.

UPDATE: Slightly reduced polycount, no visual difference ingame.

Keywords:
Covenant, rifle, plasma, jackal, halo, carbine, amazing fingolfin

Carbine (Model)

I have locateed some places where the polycount could be lowered (spots hardly seen and so on), but in order not to ruin the UVmap i made a new file and reimported the model using blizzimporter, though it seems that max splits the polygons while exporting, so i ended up with a larger file rather than smaller.

EDIT: Redid it the hard way. Should be a little smaller now.

The model looks great but I'm a noob at this and I have no idea how to make a unit hold weapons like that. DO you need to edit them in a seperate program or something? Sorry If I posted this in the wrong palce. Anyway its a nice model 5/6

EDIT: oops i meant 4/5

Nice.

The detail on there is quite high, especially for a weapon attachment, although if you wanted to play in first person... it'd be perfect. :D
10/10 for what you want to achieve and filesize.

Pity there are no covenant models to use it, though.
I suspect it would help a lot of mappers hugely if someone just decided to knuckle down and make unarmed elites, grunts and jackals.
Especially to me. :hohum:

(Before anyone asks, yes, there was Covenant on this site at one point, although I think they've been removed. There was an Illidan skin which as an elite and he had an energy sword. There also was the YGrunt, or yellow grunt, which was a horrible reskin of god-knows-what. There also was a hunter, or basically a blue Furbolg. Urg. There also is the needler, brute shot and mauler and I *think* a plasma rifle.)

*Edit*.
The cov. weapons are ALL done by Fingolfin. Silly me.

That Grunt skin was not horrible, it was perfectly fine, and this model is awesome too, no matter the size it is.

As i mentioned, i have a half-way animated jackal model with animations both for shield (+defend) and rifles, but the mesh is more RTS-ish. I also have an old lowpoly elite mesh, but it was my first 3ds max model and frankly it wasn't all that nice.
But i promise i will make all halo unit models in time, and they will be released as soon as my project is in beta stage.

BTW, are you talking about the furbolg-hunter as in the Vertex model'n reskin i sent to wazz? That would be fun.

You really don't need one, just make a copy of the ability called "sphere", then change "Art- Target" to the attatchment point of your preferance, for example "hand, right". set all cooldowns etc to 0.
Then give the ability to the unit you want to attatch the model to.

If you still have problems, try using the search function.
