Obviously the title would lead you to believe this thread has something to do with building a computer. This is correct. I know how to build one and all the parts and everything I just would like a recommendation of where to look for the parts. I have nothing now and don't ask me for a budget, but if you were to ask I'd say in total around $600, but as cheap as I can get for a decent performance of which I would find it easier for me to select that balance than come up with it on the spot.

So if you guys could recommend some sites/build ideas, that would be great.

Edit: So far... I found newegg which seems like quite the site
Computer Case
Motherboard
Processor 1 This is outside of a combo deal newegg is offering. It's a tad bit better buuuut it would also cost me $40 more.
Processor 2 I had looked at the first processor but then saw this one in a combo deal. Now I am torn.
RAM 4gb
750 GB HD, plenty o space for me and my porn
CD/DVD burner
PSU
Video Card which is in a bundle with the PSU
Wifi adapter

Other card
Other PSU
Monitor
Anyone can find me a cheap monitor?
Any other recommendations? Or problems that can be seen with compatibility? Also for reference I am not looking to do any heavy gaming on here.

I wouldn't got with those Power supplies. Besides, the one bellow is a good deal right now.

Bundle of CPU, HDD, Mobo, and RAM: http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboDealDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.235852

The RAM is a little slower, but that doesn't really matter. Bigger HDD and better processor.

PSU:http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139004
A great deal right now. $70 /w mir

Better card for less. The 9800 is really overpriced imo.

The case if basically preference, but this is the one I use, and it's probably the most popular budget case out there. It's absolutely fantastic for the price.

So I've heard. :/

Also as far as the processor the third core doesn't really make it 'better.' Yeah it's a better model and more potential but most programs are only written in two threads as opposed to three or four. AFAIK at this point in time dual cores is the way to go because like I said most programs and games and such will not be able to really utilize the third core.

But really I still like the deal and might have to go with it. I won't be able to build it right away but it shouldn't take too long to save up the money. Thanks a bunch Gilles.

But you'll be able to run more programs at once, and your computer will be be all around better for it. AFAIK anyways. Besides, it's not as if you're paying more. :p

It's not greater, it's = and cheaper. Excluding the PhenomII X3, which seems to usually have good deals.
