Hi,

can't find any info on this. Other makers should have encountered this too, no?

So you open (war3 model editor v1.07) existing game model, to edit it a bit for your needs, then save it, import it into map, and then it doesn't work. Its like it becomes invisible, not showing up. You DO NOT get the yellow message in world editor which you do with invalid textures and similar malfunctions when the cube box is displayed instead of your model.

You don't even need to edit it. Just open it in model editor, immediately save it as it is, import into map, and it does not work... (its not texture thing, doesn't matter if you change its skin or leave original)
It is related to some particular models.
It happened some time ago with freezing breath buff visual, where ice engulfs buildings. Needed to make it into pink crystal.

Today I need blue color troll berrserk weapon glowing buff visual. Both HeadhunterWEAPONSLeft and HeadhunterWEAPONSRight models don't work if saved as custom models :(

They look perfectly fine in war3 model editor and in dmlVis editor. Probably model looks ok in all editors, but the game stops recognizing it.
converting mdx to mdl and back doesn't help.

Whenever you import a model you have to immediately save the map before doing anything else to get it to show up. Otherwise you have to restart the editor and reload your map to see it. If you did all of this and still have this problem then it must be something else.

I think war3 model editor (magos?) was written with an incomplete or error filled MDL/MDX specification and as such might produce buggy or corrupt models when saving. I suggest using Retera's model studio since that is written with a much more correct MDL/MDX specification and is open source with active developers.

Yea... Editor corruption... Tried out Retera's model studio and it worked ok.

Thanks Dr Super Good, gave you Rep!

(P.S. tried opening and editing model in Magos after it was saved by Retera's and then it works in game. Always nice to solve yet another misery of "flawless" war3 editor XD)
