Bug: Private Message Alert

I got spammed with like 8 private messages just now. Checked all the links, deleted, and now it continues to give me alerts to the private messages that I already checked...

They don't exist anymore, clicking the links doesn't do anything, and every time I hit cnp I got the dang pop up window saying "you have unread private messages" and my alerts box has the deleted messages listed. Cleared out cache to see if it was that, but yea...

nvm, alerts gone now.. it took a while for them to clear out for some reason...

maybe it's just an issue with Opera.

Probably a cache / update problem. It is possible your browser caches such objects to prevent them being redownloaded even after they no longer exist. Additionally, the server may only remove notification messages after a period of time. Only report bugs like this after 24 hours (server should have updated all tasks by then) and after you have tried clearing your browser cache (and restarted browser). I am not saying that reporting bugs is bad, just that it can often turn out like above (fixes itself).

I however have found a bug that I will mention here so this thread is not wasted. If some one sends you a friends request and he is globally ignored, you can not respond to his friends request in the normal manner (accept or decline) as he does not appear on the friends management list. For most moderators this will probably not happen (as they interact with GIed people differently) but for normal users it can be annoying. The friend request notification (in user CP and below your private message link at the top right) will continue to be displayed even though clicking manage friends does not let you handle it. The only solution I know of is to issue a friend request of your own with the person directly which will cause him to appear on the friend management list and resolve the notification. You can then remove him from there if you do not want him as a friend.

Yup, I figured it was a cache problem. I only reported because I had cleared out cache and the thing was still there o-o, but it went away after like 5 mins, which was really weird ;o.
