question regarding private messages

I don't check my mail that often, it checked it today, and said I received a private message on this site about a week ago it says. I click the link from the notification email but there's no private message. Is there a reason for that.

It must have been a PM that you deleted

no that's not it, I've never gotten a private message here. It would have been the first one. I only found out because of the email notification.
