The background looks very empty. Enlarge the diamond.
Also, most diamonds aren't completely white. Try adding a very subtle hint of blue, I think it'd look more realistic.

That's quite true, but even with the little coloured fragments they would be too small in the icon so it won't be able to see them.

if you lower the diamond on the screen/make it larger, it wuld look better. in addition, add a slight hint of some light color (such as blue or gray). keep the colors light and bright
and actually, the reason you see other colors is the fact that the diamond has many prisms and is very clear, it actually reflects fragments of different colored light

When light shines through any form of crystal it can produce an entire spectrum. The blue I'm talking about is actually caused by a (quite common) impurity in the formation, which gives it a tiny blueish tint.

Right now it looks like diamond shaped salt to me. Maybe make it look more transparent? a background would also be nice.

You could add a shimmering effect. ( Like a star if you know what i mean ).

The blue you added made it look better, but the gem itself just looks... chalky. It's definitely useful as is, but looks more like quartz than diamond to me.

Inside the diamond looks better, but now is hard to see the lines of the diamond around the blue fragments, if you can you should make those lines more visible. Though the icon is getting really nice now.
