I've been working on a few blood elf skins, and I was wondering what changes they need to get as many 5s as possible

These are based off of the blood elf starting gear and a few of thier quest reward items, which is why the gold looks a little - not gold. I may end up changing it to look more metalic or more like the golden bits on the blood elves from Wc3, not sure. Anyways, all coments and critiques aimed at making these better are welcome.

Chrome, the only criticism I really have on these skins, and I believe 5 million other people have mentioned this...all those intricate details will be lost in game. It will look like a cluttered mess from game view, you either A. need to make the armor more general, or B. accentuate the small details, make them a little more brighter, or condense them...if that makes sense

Personally I'd like to see some of the unwraps to see how all these details look on the BLP/TGA file

Second one looks great, you should upload it (hehe, your third Watcher skin, you really like them, don't you?), but the first one... more shading, in my opinion. Hair looks very rough and sharp, you should fix it.

Lies! Watcher isn't my favorite skin I swear! I mean, if you check my current projects alblem you won't see any other watcher skins in their, with 3 key exceptions...XD
This is actually the fifth watcher skin I've worked on - I'm getting to know that wrap pretty well.

Personally I preferred the old Sentry and Ranger skins you did in the first post. I thought they looked great.

XD - well, the faces havn't changed since the first two screenshots, but the file size for the newer .jpgs I submitted droped by a decent amount, sort of rushed the screenshots to, so if it's the face that looked better thats probably why...though if you like the original two for the color of the gold I might have to add more saturation to the gold bits. I'll have to admit changing the gold did take amay a decent amount of color diversisty within the first two skins.

damn dude, when i see those post, it surely makes me think that i should definatly investigate much more time when i'm making my textures :p

you rock dude :D

:D sweet

Ouch - the only criticism you have is that I should totally rework the entire skin XD. I understand what your saying though, WC3 textures don't have a lot of room for tiny little details, at least not be be easily seen from the in-game view with the level of intensity I'm putting them on my skins anyways. Making things golden sort of adds to the level of detail too, though I'm not to keen on the idea of totally changing the golden bits of the skins :/

Here are the unwraps, if viewing them gives you any ideas on how to make thm better let me know!

The eyes are fine, I agree with Hawk
And I wouldn't say necessarily completely redo the skins entirely
I'd say just change certain areas on it to not have as many details, like the chest area on the Watcher, way too many gold designs on them

I think the eyes are fine. A bit of shading, I guess, but it's not in dire need of contrast or anything. Now the faces are different story.

So work on the shading for the faces some more?

Ok, that shouldn't be to hard - saved all the gold trim on a separate layer. If the gold on the watcher's chest is a problem though what do you think about the gold on the sorceress / were should it be simplified? + the same for the archer?

Ok, I re-worked the sentry a great deal. Re-did the facial shading, skin, gold, and team color. Is their any fine tuning I missed/any way to make it better?

Alas, i can say only this. All thise little details will be visible only if you resize the model to a factor of 10 X3

the last bloodelf watcher pic has just the right amount of details, shading and highlights and it is more than enough (even epic) for warcraft.

if you want to improve more i suggest not on details, but on bigger areas. details are alreaddy perfect.

that's from me....
