Banner of the Quel'dorei - Arthas

This bundle is marked as useful / simple. Simplicity is bliss, low effort and/or may contain minor bugs.
Renowned High Elven hospitality, coupled with their refined mastery of the arcane arts, has established the High Elves of Quel'Thalas as a political and military powerhouse. Though a smaller kingdom, Quel'Thalas extended its influence by aiding the nearby Humans in establishing kingdoms of their own. This was a timely alliance, as it strengthened the Eastern Kingdoms enough to survive the Horde's onslaught during their planetary invasion from the dying lands of Outland.

The hard-won peace earned after assisting in the First and Second Wars was abruptly shattered when the Undead Scourge began its demonic conquest. Tragically, the same well-established lines of trade that built Quel'thalas into a vast kingdom are now serving as the primary distribution method for the plague.

This brings us to the prosperous naval trading hub of Quel'Daran, which is now the frontline against a cataclysmic world-ending threat known as the Undead Scourge. It falls to the elite Quel'dorei to save as many citizens as possible from the encroaching, undead flame. Though their odds of survival are slim at best, every soldier of Quel'Thalas is resolved to stand their ground until reinforcements can relieve them. Our story begins with the heroic last stand of the Quel'dorei commander, whose defiance will be etched into the histories of both High and Night Elven lore.

In this deconstruction, each race has custom units, heroes, items, and economies. These altered economies feature less gold and food costs for units, faster unit production, and an increased upkeep limit of 0-80/81-150/151-200.

Here's a snippet from my Discord regarding the differing story elements of each race from established canon -

For Human, the Worgen Virus is unleashed on Gilneas during the Third War against the Scourge. Even though Gilneas had the mighty Greymane Wall, plagued grain still found its way inside, bringing untold horrors to the unsuspecting populace. Out of fear, the Gilnean High Archmagi used advanced summoning magic to unleash the Worgen as a counter to the Scourge threat. The feral Worgen successfully drove out the undead, but soon turned on the living, infecting countless Gilneans and transforming Silverpine Forest into a Worgen‑infested nightmare. Essentially, the same events from established lore occur here, only sooner. The other lore revision is that Uther nearly defeats Arthas instead of falling to him. Though tragically, the Knights of the Silver Hand have their flanks decimated by the endless undead, forcing Uther to retreat before delivering the final blow.

For Orc, a small tribe of powerful Forest Trolls, known as the Raventusk Tribe (I know it's supposed to be Revantusk, but I like the sound of Raventusk more), aligns with the Horde due to their innate affinity for Warchief Thrall. In this altered timeline, the Raventusk Tribe joins the Horde as the first official member race before they departed from the Eastern Kingdoms and "set sail with the humans' own ships." Similar to canon, during the voyage to Kalimdor, the fleet arrives upon a series of islands dominated by the Darkspear Tribe. However, in this timeline, the Darkspears immediately engage the Orcs, fearing that the Raventusks' presence will draw the unwanted attention of the Zandalari Empire. The escape turns into a desperate fight for survival as the Darkspear warriors are aided by native Murlocs, Golems, and even an ancient Sea Ghost (a native spirit of the islands). Despite the merciless assault, Thrall's troops hold out long enough to repair their ships, thanks in no small part to the Raventusks' powerful healing magic and advanced foresight of troll tactics. Regarding the Tauren, while being allies with the Horde after Thrall's assistance against the Centaurs, they never officially join the Horde or leave their sacred home in Kalimdor until they are specifically called upon to fight at the Battle of Mount Hyjal.

For Undead, after Arthas successfully uses the Sunwell to resurrect Kel'thuzad, the two do not meet again until the events of The Frozen Throne. This is because Kel'thuzad is the only one capable of using the Book of Medivh, so he must stay out of the fighting to ensure the Burning Legion's ultimate plan does not fail. When playing as Undead, you are playing as the Scourge shortly after their successful conquest over the High Elves of Quel'Thalas, with Falric, Anub'arak, and the newly turned Sylvanas all directly assisting Arthas as they march on Dalaran.

For Night Elf, there are two main differences from established canon: They adopt a position of neutrality, preferring to remain isolated from the conflict between the Alliance and the Horde due to being more than powerful enough to defend themselves. However, they secretly favor the Alliance, seeing the Horde as demonic outsiders because of Grom Hellscream, whose corrupted orcs killed Cenarius and desecrated Ashenvale Forest. Second, Malfurion's position on Illidan being released is altered; instead of disagreeing with Tyrande, he uses his authority to free his brother, preventing the prison wardens from being needlessly slaughtered by their overlords. This unified force of Tyrande, Malfurion, and Illidan sets the stage for the Night Elf forces, with Maiev Shadowsong also present, driven by her singular goal of re-imprisoning Illidan after he serves his purpose in helping defeat the enemy.

Thank you to the Hiveworkshop and all the talented artists who have contributed to the Warcraft III community. The custom models and icons created are, quite simply, incredible and have helped elevate my maps far beyond what I could have ever hoped for otherwise. This enduring commitment to the well-being of Warcraft III is the primary reason why the game has stood the test of time and will continue to do so. Special thanks to everyone who helped with playtesting; it’s hard to describe how helpful it was without sounding cheesy, so I’ll humbly say, “Thanks very much!”

Also, thank you to the following artists for their outstanding model work: Asssssvi, Cavman, DeuceGorgon, Ket, z00rtaz, Direfury, tillinghast, TinkerLord, General Frank, Skipper, Ilya Alaric, Mister_Haudrauf, Sellenisko, Stefan.K, takakenji, Jiok, apaka, Tranquil, Maximal, Mephestrial, z00rtaz, Hantoo, johnwar, Wandering Soul, Hantoo, levigeorge1617, Jaccouille, Kuzakani, Jaccouille, Engkanto, Uncle Fester, and Ujimasa Hojo. I’d be remiss if I didn’t give a special thanks to Ujimasa Hojo, Asssssvi, johnwar, and Ilya Alaric for their unique models that truly helped to shape the overall look and feel of the maps.

I’d also like to thank the following artists who did excellent work on producing the custom icons: Moy, Scias, Null, Hellx-Magnus, Stanakin, BlazeKraze, TheFifthHorseman, gnjtrknjkrn3s, stein123, Nightmare_X, Gwen Stefani, Aldeia, HikonoXVIII, DarkePacific, Explobomb, barbafire, UgoUgo, Mr.Goblin, -Berz-, NFwar, Skipper, SkriK, r.ace613, Navy, Thorneon, The Panda, Sunchips, RvzerBro, Zephyrius2412, Norinrad, 84chrome, MangaDark, PrinceYaser, Ezikielth, Sin'dorei300, and 8512590215848. The custom icons are one of the little things that enable everything else to work, so you have my gratitude for helping bring the maps to life.

Finally, special thanks to ChinesePanda for triggering the Undead Scroll of Town Portal and melon for triggering the Night Transformation on Greymane Sentinels. And thanks especially to all my Discord members for challenging me to make the best map I can. I do appreciate it! Lastly, special thanks again for all the feedback and suggestions that have helped me in too many ways to recount accurately, even you, that one guy who was understandably upset about Night Elf being too overpowered. The NE sentinel units indeed needed to cost more due to scaling too well together ... that plus Wisp had also cost 0 food at that time xD. Night Elves were like, "What is this upkeep you keep speaking of?"

The middle bases have clear advantage in shop control, but can also get easily harrased. I don't think this balances out.

Screenshots could attract more players to download your work. Make the best of them.

A credits list is required where the names of the resource (models, skins, icons, spells, sound etc.) authors are mentioned along with the specific resource. It would be a luxury to have links leading to the used resources. Credits in the Quest Log would be appreciated.

A changelog in the first post would be helpful to reviewers and notify fans about the newest implementations to your map.

For Human: Support Horse/Private/Scout/Marine/Royal Spearman/Worgen of Gilneas/Knight/Cleric/Kul Tiran Cannoneer
For Orc: Supply Kodo/Peon/Raider/Frost Wolf/Frost Wolf Rider/Shaman/Kodo Rider/Hybrid/Forest Sage
For Undead: Acolyte/Willing Convert/Ghoul/Large Ghoul/Necromancer/Banshee/Obsidian Statue/Abomination/Stitches
For Night Elf: Wisp/Treeling/Assassin/Huntress/Dryad/Druid of the Talon & Claw/Mountain Giant

The main focus of the map is to encourage more unit production. The lack of "real" air units(air-to-ground attack units) allows you to produce a large ground army without having to fear the aerial threat. This combined with the reworked Upkeep System (70-100-150) allows for really large battles.

Each race has a support unit (Support Horse/Supply Kodo/Willing Convert/Wisp) with a hero's inventory, which allows them to both buy and use items.

oh damn sounds good shame there is no 1.24-1.28 version otherwise i would have gave it a try

Yeah, it’s an older patch that had lots of out-of-date data mainly the abilities. Some of these dated things turned out to be nice though, like Peasants being able to Call to Arms from any Town Hall and the Alchemist’s Healing Spray healing enemies as well. Since humans only get Arcane Towers, the militia thing turned out to be pretty nice, and the mass grounded armies make Healing Spray require good accuracy if you want to heal your units without healing the enemies. Lastly, I'd like to make it playable for you if possible, but I'm not sure how to update it in that regard.
