Banlists

A lot of hosts use banlists (mainly DOTA players) who threaten to ban you for leaving or joining and having to download the map.

This only works in theory, because while it keeps troublesome players away it could also affect people who join by accident, or who think they have the map already, There are many maps with the same name(I have two copies of 40k td v3.38 )

You might be able to expalin yourself to the host except youve probably been kicked by then. It just gives me the impression that these people are very intolerant and impatient people if theyre not willing to help introduce new players to the warcraft online community.

Yeah banning people sucks. But I think that there are some people who deserves to get banned. Not noobs. but arseholes.

Banlists would keep leavers and arsehoels out, but there are so many misunderstandings on battle net and most people who act stupid have hacked about 20 cd keys. Which means banning them is useless.

i think that ban lists are useful in some cases, banning for downloads is crap, however people like that person who has hacked and changed WH40k td without ralles consent deserve banning.

Ignore him. I am very sure that he did it because he found something he couldn't live with and he liked my map so he wanted to make it better..

Banlists are sometimes really useful indeed- but only for people who are too dumb to change their asshole-like behaviour

In that case he should have come to you for permission to edit the project. I think he did it to get his name on the loading screen of a project he had little to do with.

Anyway.. every1 knows Ralle is the real creator.. i saw the same thing with hero line wars.. created by rubberneck. and some ironmaiden freaky called Dance of Dead maked the map even look worser.. With his name on it..

That's one of the reasons why WH40kTD is protected.

Could someone fully descrebe what a ban list is?

a list of people built into the map that get automatically kicked because the map creator doesnt want them to play the map. ie, a list of people banned from playing the map.

A trigger could do this:
Pick all players in (all players) if string(playername of (picked player)) equal to 40k_GST_Nemisis then game - defeat picked player.

But then it's only the maker of the map who can change who can be banned? Am i right?
Coz then the host don't desides who should be banned.

Correct, only the creator, a hacker, an editor, or someone with an unprotected map.

but then the host can just use admin kick so it doesnt matter anyway.
