Arthas Campaign - Humans

Arthas Campaign - Humans
Created by [The]Blood_Head - Sagi5533

Map Info:

I thought to myself, Why not to try something different? Why not to give Arthas Menethill other choice instead of turning to cold hearten Death Knight? this is about alternative timeline where Arthas is exposed to what might happen should he purge Stratholme, And by doing so changing the entire Warcraft III lore. I hope you would like it, Comments will be appreciated. And yes, Grammar Nazis will probably kill me.

Features:

- Story stays true to belive despite major lore changes.
- For each chapter there's special Difficulty system.

Campaigns Progress:

Arthas Campaign - Humans
Arthas Campaign - Undead
Arthas Campaign - Orc
Arthas Campaign - Curse of the Worgen

Characters and Screen Shots:

Prince Arthas Menethil:
Prince Arthas is son of Terenas and Lianne Menethil, And Brother of Calia. Heir to the throne of Lordaeron and one of the most powerful paladins on Azeroth. Since in this time line Arthas will not claim Frostmourne, There's no telling how much that will affect the warcraft III History..

158242-albums8894-picture108507.jpg

Terenas Menethil:
Terenas Menethil II was born in the court of the kingdom of Lordaeron, one of the strongest human nations, as a member of the royal Menethil family, which had ruled the kingdom for generations. An old friend of Thoras Trollbane, Terenas grew up to become a wise and just ruler, greatly loved by his people. His long years of reign saw peace and brought prosperity for Lordaeron. However, now his future might change..

158242-albums8894-picture108510.jpg

Lady Jaina Proudmoore:
Jaina was one of the most talented and trusted sorceresses of the Kirin Tor. She was dispatched by Antonidas to discover what was happening in the northlands of Lordaeron. She was escorted by her childhood friend and one-time romantic interest, Prince Arthas Menethil, to uncover if the plague had magical origins. In this time line she will have major affects on Azeroth's fate..

158242-albums8894-picture108509.jpg

Uther The Lightbringer:
Uther The Lightbringer, was the first paladin of the Knights of the Silver Hand who led his Order in battle against the Horde during the Second war. Uther is the Mentor of Arthas and a close friend of Menethil Family. Uther has witnessed the rise of the Undeads and that might not affect him well..

158242-albums8894-picture108511.jpg

Bloody The Seeker(Custom Character):
Bloody is not a real warcraft lore character, I named him after my eurobattle account However Lore should be told. Bloody was born in Darrowshire, Bloody's family were poor as his father died durning the second war. Bloody has two brothers, however durning the Orc invasion his brother Marywn fell in battle. Bloody swore to protect the innocents and joined the order of the Silver Hand as a Paladin, under the guidence of Uther The Lightbringer. he moved with his other brother and mother to Hillsbrad, however their fate is unkown.

How was that an insult?
Uh... insult was a strong word, I edited it to irk! :D You know, where was I live the "modern carefree" era are just begun to show up as well as with the carriers of this life-style, like "new-riches", trash reality "stars", USA and Japan imitators, I met this people in my days and they often insult/irk/annoy us with their arrogance. :/

Oh... and chapter 9 is fair, you need to find an item to open the gate as I remember.

Reading some comments I agree final chapter is somewhat boring because it's a grindfest, but imba vs imba is still balanced. Also it's not very challenging when you virtually can't loose. Story might be weird for some, for me it was having trolls as the ultimate enemy, they seem like they own Kalimdor lol. About Thrall I seriously expected he would escape with a zepelin or something.
We're just immersed in regular wc3, so we're torn out when something totally different happens. Well, it is after all a fan-made alternate story campaign, and in this case it's either you hate or love it, there isn't much in between I guess...

You just have to accept we have all different preferences and it's impossible to make us all happy. It's important to remember this when you get mad when it feels like someone is trampling all over your hard work.

difficult ,sorry correction maybe say stressful and time and if in one chapter you prepare , sorry man but you have to recognize some things , I mean spend a hero regular warcraft style until chapter eight and the last you become a god all powerful,If the chapter is not difficult but long and stressful that you can not deny , and I've played several campaigns like rise of blood elves or curse of forsaken , perhaps the most famous campaigns on this page, this game should be so stressful but there are limits.

my experience with your campaign was this in brief:

Chapter 1-8:normal game
Chapter 9:???????????

Hm sorry you feel that way, But the story aint changing I might balance the items of Arthas and Jaina with the trolls in the future insted of the tomes but nothing more.

Peace and love man :D
And yeah chapter 9 is fair, People are all like this is the end of the world.. There's a sequel coming and everything will be alright.

Hm thank you I guess, It's not like I'll change the end just because few people complained they didn't like it :p some people will hate and some will love no biggie

Man,you've taken me many times about the story, and I wonder , when ray I have complained to the story, only I have complained about the gameplay of Chapter Nine, well that does not matter anymore, hey if you want me to say something positive campaign definitely my favorite moment was when Arthas release their fifth power, was an epic moment, it was almost the counterpart of the shooting star tyrande was very good :)

PD:I went into the theme of the story will not criticize anything because it is your campaign alternate universe,I mean you decide you do with the characters, while it might tell you that did not taste much for example the part of thrall but do not criticize him because as I said this is your story, I only criticize the gameplay of Chapter nine, and yes, I 've said many times, and one more thing,it is not wrong to acknowledge mistakes, unlike that would help you make a campaign that is much better than this, this is a good campaign but has its faults,is not perfect, but it helps to make better projects well I think that's all :)

Yes Show it to a moderator and demand a rating!
Also the definition of finished is not that the content is whole, but rather that this is the finished product and no updates or changes will need to be made... that is not the case at even the moderator has said there are at least 3 errors she/he discovered.

Now that means this map is approved, but not working properly!

NOT TO BE APPROVED!

If it is so important... (not seems) you may also carry here one.

but rather that this is the finished product and no updates or changes will need to be made
It means a larger section of maps is not finished, as updates coming and coming.

that is not the case at even the moderator has said there are at least 3 errors she/he discovered.
Campaign are repaired two times after Rufus's review.

First of all Rufus tested the campaign but didn't rate it since rating system will change and left it unrated, Second the campaign would've been approved! He said he would rate it 3/5(which doesn't make me happy but people may have their opinion). Third What are you babbling about? the only changes I made were few bugs and some updates for High Elves/Terenas spells! The campaign is done and every map on hive do the same thing so really chill out. This campaign is top because I think people love the idea for a good story for Arthas and Blizzlike campaign! Seriously I don't know what you are looking for, But the campaign is finished and there are updates on every map always. If you came to argue about the reason my campaign is on top downloaded maps of the month (as I've already seen you spamming Shadow fury about my 'glitchy map') well This is something that shouldn't concern you since your attitude is horrible, And the fact that you don't respect this website's rating system.

This campaign has been reviewed by Rufus, a renowned member of the Map Reviewers.
He deemed this map approvable, so let it be TheLordOfChaos.

Only the author himself could ask for a new review.
You, TheLordOfChaos, haven't the right to do so.
So stop spamming this thread now.
You made your point clear, but it won't change anything.

it's hardly spamming when it's only 2 comments, but I get it. you can't take a negative opinion, I guess I wouldn't want a re-review if I was afraid of a poor rating too...

or you could do what's best for the hive and prove your map is worth it.

No idea why all the hate, campaigns can always be improved, yes, but this one is very good imo, looks completed and author says it's completed. Be thankful for it, you just got a free campaign, and not a bad one at that, all made possible by the author, who spent who knows how many days working on it.
Edit:
You said before that it isn't playable. How so? There were some errors apparently experienced only by very few of us, and even that got fixed.

I quite liked the campaign,
many nice maps and a decent story.
I think you still need to take a good look at the grammer. There were a lot of grammar errors. I am not a native English speaker and even I found a lot of them (mostly wrong tenses), also the last map still needs some work. It doesn't really work all to well and doesn't completely show the missions. The concept for the last map is great though.

Good luck with improving the map and for now it is also enjoyable.

Exactly, Spamming this thread and other maps reviewers will bring him nothing probably.

I have always wanted to see Arthas's Alternative route. :) I wonder...

Same! After I've completed the warcraft III campaigns for the first time, I wondered if there's a custom campaign somewhere showing an alternative path for Arthas. I've waited and no one took that idea for some reason xP

My problem with your comments were that you didn't post them only on my thread, You also asked a map reviewer personally to not approve my campaign. I would've respected your review but your attitude just killed it. :)

Exactly, He even didn't test my campaign since there are no glitchy parts of crashes/errors. But sure, Spamming Hiveworkshop will probably solve it.

Can't argue with that, My grammar isn't the best however I tried my best. I'll have to ask someone to fix it for me at some point :p I'm glad you liked the campaign, The last map might get a small map because many people didn't like the idea of Arthas and Jaina buying freely tomes of +75 stat. However I think I've figured out how to balance it and the map might get an update later.

na it's cool... Mr.Tic is right. I no long have any complaints about a free service

SPOILER ALERT !!!

One more thing I disliked about this campaign is Thrall's death. Since both humans and orcs were following their leaders and those leaders (both Arthas and Thrall) were instructed by Prophet Medivh to go to Kalimdor to save their people and fight against the coming demons, it was a shame that Thrall had to be killed. Was that his destiny? To come to Kalimdor and die? He only intended to save his fellow orc brethren from humans in Lordaeron and Arthas killed him in Kalimdor :'(
sagi5533, as I already mentioned, the campaign itself is great. I'm just writing my opinions about it. And you keep up with your great work. I can't wait to play the Undead version of the campaign :D

Thank you, Well his destiny was to lead the Horde to Kalimdor. (Preparations aginst the Burning legion). However in case the Undead campaign will be a success, I might make an Orc sequel which I promise have awesome characters and lore. :D

Sorry. I'm new here on Hive Workshop, so I'm afraid I don't know how to hide spoiler information from other players who are interested in completing the campaign instead of facing spoilers. Could you please be kind to tell me how? Thanks :)

Thank you :D I worked hard on this campaign, Glad other Arthas fans like it. At the moment I've done about 4 chapters of the undead campaign so it's almost uh 35% ready. About Sylvanas, I left her for now. She might return in one of the other campaigns. :)

Hello again,I wanted to ask a question, once you finish your next project which have my support of course, you do not plan to do a campaign of high elves? on zul'aman for example, as the campaign over arthas to chapter four( high elves ) in my opinion the best chapter, and the last( zul`farrak ) the hardest,I think it would look good with a related high elves and trolls campaign,in this case the forest.

Hi, LeKaiser your idea catched my attention. Can you tell us the plot? (It is not spoilers) Also what we can expect, Trolls vs High elves or something more? It is logically attached to the basic events of warcraft? The events will follow eachother by reactions (not always chain reaction) or the hand of the author solves problems? Thank you for answer.

Basically would deal with the troll wars that take place before the orcs arrived in Azeroth , he thought that this could be the plot and perhaps also the possibility of using the blood elves at the end of the campaign, although this would deal patch wow gods of Zul'Aman.

I liked your idea, However in this time period Silvermoon already fell. Not sure how Zul'Aman will fit well but it might be well in future campaign instead of Night Elves TFT campaign for example. Anyways if you want to write more details about the campaign you can explain more here or PM me with more specific information. :)

That's like.. Before even warcraft 1 :O I've just started off from warcraft 3 lol. It could be awesome though to change the events since that time period but I doubt I'm planning to go that far back. I really liked your idea though :)

What Alliance do, when rag-tag trolls and orcs attack Quel'Thalas, an important ally of humanity? (Just I asking this)

Anyway it is hardly believable, that the orcs able to make their stand in Azeroth, there are multiple human kingdoms in the beginning, also with Ironforge and Quel'Thalas, they are seems to be incompetent dull ones, if they not defeated the orcs properly in time. (But fortunately, they defeated them and closed them to interment camps, later)

Greetings, I think you deviate from the topic , the idea is to find a plot to use the high elves , this I think is the most ideal most of all because it is related to the history of patch wow , zulaman gods.

PS:Since the rise of blood elves campaign ,not there a good campaign about elves , so I thought about this ,especially basing on a patch wow just like the campaign That I just Mentioned and curse of Forsaken

Here is a video about the patch

Have I deviate? Maybe yes... but I said the truth. Anyway... I do not fully understand PD, because of grammar, (words and the whole sentence sounds awkward, I hardly able to find the meaning) sorry! :(

Edit: I understand your idea about campaign tale. "I think it would look good with a related high elves and trolls campaign,in this case the forest." Firstly I thought you want some fandom twist, which makes things worse. Alright, and the patch video is great.

Well,it has recently come another campaign related to wow lore called Shadow of Hatred which recounts the events of the patch "the black temple",that why I thought of this idea after playing this campaign of Arthas :)

I really enjoyed to play. The But I dislike how Uther, Akama, Maiev and others are presented. The story's good, I liked how it's a mixture of RPG and strategy. But alas, 4 of 5.

Ughh..Hey. First of all this campaign is good BUT there are some plot holes and some things you need to work on (grammar, bugs). Also i didn't have any lag so i dont realy know what the others are talking about.. NOW the good things.

1.First of all the idea of Arthas beign good is great!
2.The campaign missions are good and warcraft III like
3.I liked some moments in the campaign and dialogues
4.Challening and great missions

Now the things that you dont want me to say...

1.Plot holes... I dont think that the purge would be stopped so easily...Only showing Mal'ganis is kinda cliché since he was good artha's enemy, there are so many dreadlords around...And the thing that realy made me feel mad about this campaign is,the fact that Thrall died..Are you serious? Let's say Arthas and Jaina went there to fight Thrall STILL MEDIVH WOULDNT LET THEM KILL HIM..THE SAME HAPPENED TO JAINA IN THE ORC CAMPAIGN. MEDIVH WANTED THE HUMANS,THE ORCS AND THE ELVES TOGETHER TO FIGHT THE BURNING LEGION,and the last one is the fact that dwarves never realy bothered helping Lordaeron..
2.Missions are 'unbalanced'. I am not talking about the stats. I'm talking about the fact that mission 2 was harder than the others. If you played wc3 you should know that only the later missions were hard, not the first ones!.

That's all. I liked your campaign but those are it's issues...
I would give it 4/5 cause of the warcraft 3 like campaigns and the option to choose difficulty
Also I'm not a thrall fan.I hate the orcs...I'm just stating facts

Wait, Akama, Maiev? they are not part of this campaign lol, glad you liked the campaign however :)

Well first of all thank you for stating the good parts first xD I'm glad you liked the campaign but hm let me answer you:

- Grammar issues (bugs? I fixed all of them if you found ones on the new version can you please say where?) will be fixed, My English isn't perfect therefore I asked someone to help me out and I'll update the campaign with few other changes.
- Hm I just read about Arthas on Wowwiki and here I'll quote:

"After Arthas made his case and explained why the citizens of Stratholme needed to be purged both Uther and Jaina abandoned him. This decision by Uther and Jaina is undoubtably the cause of Arthas's eventual path to become the Lich King. Had they stood by him and thought about the situation rationally like one would expect from a master Paladin and a Mage of the Kirin Tor, then Arthas would not have faced one of the most horrific moments in his life without his closest friends. With the weight of abandonment by his partner and his mentor on his heart Arthas dedicated his life to chasing down Mal'Ganis believing he had nothing left to lose.

Hence, if Jaina and Uther had listened to his plight and sided with Arthas. Arthas would have never chased down Frostmourne. Muradin would've encountered it in Frostmourne's cave and left it alone as he suggested Arthas to do leaving the blade there, unlikely to be found soon. This in turn would prevent the scourge from ever entering Quel'Thalas and Silvermoon. Leaving the Sunwell intact and the High Elves uncorrupted. Kael'thas and Illidan would never have met and thus the Blood Elves would never have reinforced Illidan's crusade against Ner'zhul. How Illidan's march on Icecrown would have ended without the Blood Elves is hard to predict. However, this turn of events would have shifted the power balance heavily in favor to the Alliance as the Forsaken and Blood Elves would never exist."

The point is changes might affect a lot the story, What if the High Elves were prepared for the Undead and managed to find a way to stop Mal'Ganis? In the end the culling wouldn't change much since there are some forces that couldv'e delt with them like the Ashbringer.

- Maybe you are right. Medivh did save Jaina but here it never occurred in this timeline. What if in this timeline Medivh had other plans for the Horde? What if in this timeline Thrall's faith was to lead the Horde to Kalimdor and that's it?

- Chapter 2 is basicly to build some towers and hold on for 30 minutes, maybe it's harder then the others but we are talking about saving Lordaeron so.. yeah, I couldn't make it a short chapter.

So anyways I'm glad you liked the campaign :)
I'm also not a huge fan of the Horde but trust me, I'm not forgetting the Horde. :p

Chapter 2 is only diffucult if you don't prepare. Now that you know how the mission goes, you can just spam towers and build several production buildings in the city. The Scourge will never have a chance to step into the city!! (ok maybe later lol)

So i am just gonna step right into it and review your campaing based on the 2 first maps.
I do have to say i was dissapointed, based on good review from earlier players feedback/rating.

First of all. I am not going to say what i liked, because i did feel that to much was lacking on the overall experience.

1. Map placement: The whole campaing feels like a call of duty camping operation based on the two first maps. There is nothing in between, and i felt bored by having the same. kind of missions on the first hours of my time in game.
2. The story is shallow: There is no conversation, everything is based on action. There is no hmm and hues. Everything is just going straight forward. Even if alexstraze suddenly popped up, Arthas never doubted it could have been a trick by some arch mage, lich or just an halousination. Why did he get alextrazas gift when she said she would not get involved at all?
3. Quests?: There is zero sidequests. How is there a undead invasion, but nobody needs help?
4. Activity: On the first map, there was set up a gold mine south, defended by some towers etc. Why? i would not possibly have had time to reach it with patrols from purple and two factions attacking me with full force every 1.30 minuttes.
5. Placement: I also wondered why there were a goblinshop on the second map outside the city. My mind is pretty much telling me that i am not going to go outside the city when there is a gate, which apparently gets instantly broken by the UD, and which i though was supposed to be there to delay the invasion.
6. Unpredicteble: I, as many others do not like to waste 30 mins on failing a map. This is where i started to cheat. On the 2 map, on normal difficulty, i get burnt down even before i had a chance to react. Why? Because i had no army at all, no gold or lumber. The reason why i failed, was because there were only 1 quest, which i though would move me to a new map were i did not have everything i made in the preperation. So i did not preper, because the quest did only tell me to do minimum including the lack of hidden quests telling me there would be more on the same level. Fighting 40 necromancers without dispel is no fun.
7. Level 6?: So the heroes start at lvl 6 and 10 from the beginning. I feel like the character is not mine. I do not have to work for my characters progress, they are already maxed out on the primary stats.
8. Loot: No creates to destroy, no thugs to loot. I want rewards!
9. Wave spawn: I want my game to be rigged or not at all. I don't like to be stuck for 20 minuttes, just because i can't raise tech lvl and a second army fast enough so that i can leave to explore.
10. Terrain: It is not good looking. And there is little props the comes naturaly in an outdoor envoirnment. (If i remember right, lordaeron city is surrounded by water, something it is not in your map)
11. I found it strange that stratholm would get reinforcements, while the capital did not. Make the game more immersive and logic. Why waste troops in stratholm, if the UD army there is big enough to take the capital.

These are my atm views on the campaing (i were not able to think of more), some of the things i think could be improved on the first 2 maps (or all?).
I may finish the rest later, and maybe ill be impressed?
But the campaing felt like it have been pushed to release, thus i had to push my review.

And please, delete the 2 undead camps on the second level. They take up Ram, and i wont be able to destroy them with the high density of waves coming in. (not that they have a function at all)

So you are saying you just played the first two maps even though the other reviews are positive? (most of them) well Test the others I'm sure you wont be dissapointed about all of them.
Lets see:

- First mission had to take some time because yeah. hold the undead from escaping stratholme should take a while and buying time for the citizens of lordaeron escape requires time too.
- you havent finished the campaign so I'm not going to comment yet.
- Exactly theres a zombie invasion going on and you expect the main heros to start helping citizens escape? who will hold off the undeads? side quests in that chapter will make it even harder for players that had hard time passing it anyways.
- You can do fine without it, it's just a bouns and you can still destroy purples base to reach the mine easier ive done it couple of times, I'm not here to teach the players how to play wc3.
- Once again I'm not here to teach the players how to play! Have you ever heard about towers??
- Well hm next time you read a quest saying prepere for undead invasion you can try better, I even left two towers in the city enternce. failing map? Doubt it. many players found it difficult and passed it without cheats.
- This campaign start from the middle of the humans campaign what did you expect?
- Dont have time? then don't play a campaign. I'm not here to make a 5 minutes campaign for people with no time.
- Lordaeron isnt aurrounded by water infact I I made it look as much as I could to Lordaeron from WoW, Terrian is fine I dont know What's to complain anyways since you only played two chapters.
- The reinforcements came from dalaran/capital. Citizens fleed from the capital while the players and the capitals troops defeand the city thats the whole point.

Anyways im not going to change anything in chapter 2 I think it's perfect as it is. when you will test the other chapters please let me know what did you think about them. :)

First of all. I did not say you have to change your campain in any ways, it was just my view based on the first 2 maps as i mentioned.

Now back to what i wanted to front on the second map. I WOULD have built towers, but there is nothing that acctually make it seem like i am going be allowed to keep anything but what the quest is telling me to make. That is a state of mind. If i am looking for clues, allowing me to acctually think ----> should i preper, or is it a waste?. That is something your map's questlog lacks. All i said was, make the second quest appear as a hidden quest from the beginning.

I will go though the rest of your campaing, you do not have to implement any of recommendations to your map. All i say is, i found the first two maps a little to straight forward.

I've been bothered by chapter 2 for while... the reason why it's hard is because you have no additional help in other words Human AI... Sagi I'd recommend to find someone who can atleast make a defending AI for chapter 2 and adding some side quests in chapter 2 would be great actually.... Like finding some additional resources around the city for preparation and put a time limit on the base building... might be more exciting

I'm quitting the game for a long time and you are creating a custom campaign when I'm gone??? Hmm, I like the story, it's what really could be when Arthas' fate was changed. I like that possibilites. I will test every chapter soon and tell you, but still it's good to see you and you surprised me noob :p We should get back on our old maps, you and me gon fight again ! (And I'll win ;P )

Actully I did update it on the last update, I added triggers to respawn any dying unit of player gray. (with variables and wait conditions ofcourse) and for player dark green to spawn Troops and order them to attack through the main gate. I tested it and it worked. Either way the difficult should be ok but that's an option I might consider after I finish the Undead Campaign because Right now I don't have anyone who's good with AI Editor. By the way if you are willing I might need testers for the Undead campaign in like two weeks ~ if you want, PM me :)

Cool Oconnell! :D It has been so long haha
Well you guys all left Eurobattle and I still play sometimes :) Doubt it we will be able to play awlr/daow/witp etc now the server is full with noobs.. Once you are done the Human Campaign if you will write a proper Review I might let you test the Undead Campaign once it's done :p Let me know if you are interested.

the campaign was kinda meh, i would have liked to see more interaction between the characters, and the characters to be more In character,
for example i cringed a bit when terenas said: "ok let' get out of here"
also, spoilers:

bloody should have not been able to turn uther into a death knight, since according to lore a palladin can't become a death knight if it is against his will

but hey you added yourself into the game so yeah
