Animation Help

How can I animation certain parts of an objects all I know about animating is using bones to move/rotate the objects but how can I like if it was a piece of cloth and the cloth was one object how can I animate like the polys of it?

You would have to create bones, and attach the cloth verts to those bones, and animate them like that.
For warcraft 3 purposes anyhow.

I tried attaching verts to bones but it didn't work it attach the whole object
