Should I make this with SD or Reforged graphics?

I've been musing over this idea for quite some time and, finally, I decided to try my hand at making a single player campaign inspired by one of my favorite games of all time: Sega's Golden Axe.

For those, who never spent a coin in the arcade or didn't play the game on the Genesis/PC/any other platform it was released on, here's what it looked like:

For now, I'm working on a prototype map featuring Gilius Thunderhead (the dwarf).
I wanted to see if I could tweak the Mountain King model into something that resembles the character; here's my result:

Other heroes will be playable in the campaign as well. In certain missions*, all three will be available.

*I still haven't decided whether I should make one big map or a series of smaller levels, similarly to what the original game had.

I also can't make up my mind on the graphics. Currently, I'm leaning more towards SD, since it's my first project and custom assets will take less time to produce if I choose this path.
On the other hand, Golden Axe would benefit from a less cartoony style featured in Reforged (some models there have Conan-esque vibe and proportions).

What do you guys think? Please, make a vote in the Poll and feel free to share your ideas on the project. Stay tuned for more info.
