Spamming shrub and mushrooms makes terrain look good pretty quickly. Then add some fog, and done. ;P

You can do something like this in a couple of minutes, which I think looks pretty good:

Some tips about making Ashevale terrain:
-Use "leaves" terrain, and spam it, but don't make it MAIN terrain, use regular grass as main.
-Flowers, Shrubs, Rocks, and putting mushrooms near trees is good idea
-If you put rocks, make sure you put some Shrub on it, it looks cool in game
-Like Kala said, make camps, with a lot of doodads in it (Boxes, Gold, Torches etc.)

Here are some models that would look good for bandits, or something like that:

And a decoration that will sure look cool:

For a good Ashenvale-style terrain:
______________________________
- Use summer trees
- Lots of shrubbery
- sunken ruins mushrooms
- leaves (ashenvale), lumpy grass (ashenvale), and small bricks (sunken ruins) are great for tiles
- place your alot of shrubs, flowers, and mushrooms at the base of trees and around rocks - never have stand-alone trees/rocks
- place mushrooms/flowers on top of rocks to create a more dimensional look to the terrain
- linear white terrain fog, 1000-3000
- modify pitch angle of some doodads to change their look (i.e. you can make a fallen down tree)
- rock-bridges always look great in forest terrains
- if your going for a "magic forest" feel, be sure to have lots of effects. Faerie dust and 100/150/150 moonwell water always work well.
