What is this about?
This is mainly a modeling project. I want to provide the community with a generic human model capable of a vast gamma of movement and emote animations. It is just silly that after over 8 years of modding most cinematic and rpg authors are still forced to use the standard Villager model for their npcs, mostly due to the lack of alternatives.
My aim is to fill this gap and hopefully sparkle some interest and activity in the cinematic community again, but I don't exclude this model could also be useful for other types of map, too.
So, if it's this is about a model, why do you need a triggerer?
Due to several limitations of the game engine and the world editor, it is not possible to make the model work ingame, as it is now, without some knowledge of triggers and\or Jass. A knowledge I don't possess and don't have the time to acquire.
So far I've been testing the animations with the help of model viewers, but there's really a lot I could have missed that way. I need to see the model ingame, see it moving and interacting with the environment and other units to have a clear view of it and make the necessary corrections to progress further.
Also, I might need some clarification on how the game handles a few things, i.e. if there's a limit on how many attachment points a model can have, or if it's possible to play a specific portrait animation. And of course feedback on the model and animations is appreciated.
I may be able to help. What would you require me to do?
Not too much I hope. Basically helping me with setting up a small test map for the model, for this purpose you should know:
- how to play specific animations, pause them, change their speed and play them in sequence.
- how to implement jump and knockback spells
- have the unit perform a sequence of actions to be seen in cinematic mode
- bonus points for being able to terrain a little house interior, otherwise no problem, I can do that aswell
- be reliable, meaning that I don't want to waste anyone's time, but I don't want mine wasted either. You decide what to do and you decide when, but then I expect you do that; no vanishing for weeks and then coming up with a "Oh right... lol I forgot".
TL;DR, I need the help of a jasser to test a model and advice on how to finish it. A partial version of the model is attached below, have a peek and leave me a message if you are interested.
