Across the Atlantic
If you know me because of my other post, you may know that I'm not all that great at presentation. But too bad here's my map anyways.
In the recess I've taken from working on Reclamation (looking for a terrainer), I took about a month to make this map. It's very similar to American Colonization in its concepts and setting but I feel this one is much better. The terrain is smoother, the map is bigger, and it looks much more professionally done. I made this because I was bored, partly, but also because this time in history interests me and I wanted to create a map with competitive European nations and Native American tribes who must fight for their independence.

Features:
• Resources
○ Resources determine your income
○ Capture resources by building certain structures next to them
○ Resources are also used as techtree requirements
• Working Techtree
○ Researches weighted with gold and lumber so as to match the time period
• Events (see above screenshots)
• Smoother terrain
• Large map
• Trade Income
○ Determined by number of resources
○ Cargo ships travel the Atlantic between ports to provide this income
• Realism
○ No building in the Sahara!
○ Unit Balance
• Easy Alliance System
My notes on what must be done for version two:
- Compensate fully buildings destroyed by triggers
- Change all tooltips to color |cfffffcc0
- Movement speed of trade ships depends on distance between trading docks
- Multiple cargo ships thru upgrades such as Limited Liability Corporation
- Fix facing angle of hidden cargo ships w/ 100 mana
- More events
- More units (lancers, architects, fusiliers, etc.)
- Cotton and tobacco
- Ability to destroy buildings
- Decisions
- Banks and stock exchanges
- Random terrain landmarks like Stonehenge and Koelner Dom to make it look pretty
- Upgrade towers and cities to attack with guns
- Appropriate passive icon for Evasion (Cargo Ships)
I estimate that the map is more than 50% finished what with all the things that I will want to add in version two and future versions.
