What can't I open the map Gaias Retaliation?

It is protected. Copy/Paste into the normal WC3 Maps folder.

I did it, but when I click to 'begin map' the game returns to the maps selection screen.

Most likely the map is not ready for the new patch 1.24.
I don't think you can do anything about that

It works fine in 1.24e. Make sure you are updated to the latest patch, have your quality detail on high, and be sure you have the official, latest version. Also try re-downloading it if that doesn't work.
