This is just a sample of an idea for my story.

The man finally got up off of a box and wiped his face free from any remaining tears, the dirt was wet with scattered tears that had hit the ground. He walked over to the entrance of the old building and his heart dropped as he remembered once again he was at the very top of the ancient spire. The twin suns were beginning to set and the pinkish hue from them bathed the ancient Xeno-buildings but his stood above all the rest and the site was purely beautiful. Seeing this great landscape brought back the memories of his platoon had died here. Dammit! He thought as he kicked the box. Why the Hell am I left here to die alone? The man sat down discouraged and frustrated and looked at his wrist and his band opened up showing a holographic text of his mission. He read it over and over again:
“ Xeno 1525
Tarentulion Galaxy
Briefing- Major Hallsworth
My fellow comrades, we have been receiving reports of strange things happening to the science crew on the Planet labeled Xeno 1525 or more commonly known as Ghiron. This is one of the roughly fifteen hundred planets that contain the ruins of an ancient alien civilization. Although the Xenos have been thought to be wiped out there have been unknown disappearances by science members and they are requiring for army back up. The Estates of Mankind will be sending Delta 132 Platoon 18 to investigate and provide safety to the scientists as they perform their Xeno- archeological activity.
-Mission brief over”
The man winced and closed his eyes in a silent suffering as he remembered those words when they were shipped off to this Hell hole forsaken by the almighty one. Everyone in the squad he knew were his friends and close enough to be his family and it was all taken away from him. The man let out a cry of built up agony and his voice echoed throughout the seemingly empty city and the mountains in the far distance. As he thought about his fallen brethren he thought about them the ones who killed them. It was they who took the lives of his friends and family he thought and he was about to cry again when he held back his tears and remembered when they first saw the creatures. They were doing a reconnaissance of the city and during the night time they found this creature about a meter long with a black body almost fury looking and three bug-like legs with seven very red looking eyes. He almost smiled a little bit when he remembered how excited they were because they had found the first life on any of the Xeno planets with the ruined civilizations.
The platoon decided to put the animal in a cage and keep it for testing but that night it let out a screech so sharp and shrill that everyone had to cover their ears even with their battle suits on. Only minutes later were the same shrieks heard throughout the ruined city and then a swarm of these creatures came at them and they were easily repelled by the bullets and weaponry of the platoon but they kept coming back night after night. As his eyes were closed the man did not even realized his fists were clenched and he was trembling uncontrollably but he kept remembering. After a time of a week the creatures had knocked out their communication arrays by emitting a low frequency signal apparently disrupting all communications and that’s when the platoon started to die. Every day another platoon mate would die and then the next the same would happen and then agai- The man opened his eyes and wiped the sweat from his brows and forcibly unclenched his fist. It was night time and he knew the damned bastards would be back to finish the job. Luckily he was on the tallest tower with one stairway up which he masterfully blockaded a day before.
The only way up was the steep sides but the man knew that he did not have much weaponry or ammo. He looked in the corner where he had stockpiled all things he deemed useful and among them he drew out the following: a B-67 Combat Pistol better known as the Blitz Screamer, the Treper Tactical assault rifle with forty clip rounds and emptying those rounds in less than one second, last but not least was the heavy nano missile launcher which looked like a more sheik bazooka lined with a silver-looking metal, it had two missiles two, not much. He sighed and put on his tight fitting under suit which looked as black as the night sky and then put on his padded recon suit for he had lost his heavy battle suit in the city when their camp was raided one night. It looked like a green gilly suit with a visor covering his eyes feeding him tactical information and equipped with many features such as night vision and infrared.
He stared at himself in the reflection of a broken piece of glass and he scrolled over how he looked and his eyes stopped on his name tag ‘Corporal Williams’. The name sounded so unfamiliar since no one has said it in days, he felt like the old him was dead and he was simply an animal trying to survive. A screech rang out in the night and it was followed by a chorus of others and under his visor the man grimaced with the expression of revenge. He walked casually over to the broken part of the wall and looked at the black mass building in the city and making its way to his tower. He held his tactical up and waited and time seemed to slow down. Every second seemed like an hour as it crept by and then everything sped up as the first creature began to climb up the wall and he fired a single shot from his tactical looking though the scope and he saw the creature fall back to the ground dead.
His adrenaline was pumping after he shot precise shot after shot and creature after creature yelled and screeched in pain as it died and was shot off the tower. Each time Williams ran out of ammo he would skillfully reach into his holder and pull out one and slide it right in. Each spark from his gun light up his face showing a man filled with rage and hatred for his enemy. As he heard a click from his gun he reached in his holder for another ammo clip but found none so he tossed the gun to the ground. Williams reached to the ground and strapped the nano launcher to his body in fire ready position. Damn! Less than a minute of fighting and I’m already using this. He carefully aimed through the scope aiming for a large group of the creatures coming up the wall. He looked once last time and then he fire and the recoil made him step back. The missile flew down the wall and then blew up releasing a brownish cloud which in reality a cloud of nanites who were designed to eat away at organic material with lightning quick speed.
The nanites quickly ate through the creatures and when they were done with one they would move on to the next. The screams of the creatures added to the man’s revenge and he smiled in glee as he saw the affects of the nanites doing their deadly job. He loaded the launcher with his last missile and aimed again. This time he waited until the creatures began to advance again up the tower and he fired again, having the same effect as the first one. He removed the launcher from his body and dropped it to the ground shaking the floor. He took the precious time the missile would buy him to poor himself a glass of scotch smuggled in for the mission. “For the Estates!” He yelled as he downed the scotch and then he murmured “For my fallen brethren”
Williams walked back over to the edge of the tower and took at his pistol and began to fire at the creatures and they were close enough now that he could begin to see their red eyes. He counted each shot with precision and when he was down to one he looked at the starry night sky and let out a tear as he shot himself through the head. His body tumbled off of the tower and hit the ground soon after but that second before he killed himself, he remembered…
