Hey guys, ever since i did an acceleration system to resemble real life acceleration (http://www.hiveworkshop.com/forums/...m-v0-12-gui-friendly-147825/?prev=r=20&page=2), i got inspired to make a realistic type of game.

what i mean by this is you get tired after running, you need to eat; be able to shoot guns, maybe even custom attacking system, where the unit has to block an attack and counter it and whatnot, im thinking it should be a short type of RPG+PvP with lots of skills involved;

i can handle the triggering, all of it, but i need a serious partner with me in this, and someone who has great ideas to share with me; credits are 50/50.

i dont need a triggerer, but i need a terrainer, as for models im sure we can get them somewhere on the web.

please, suggest ideas, i am sure this type of map would rock!

hell maybe id evenmake some user fly flying machines or something!

maybe even add mini games! (although that wont be so realistic >_>)

well guys, i really hope someone likes this, i am sure this will be a really fun map to play, and most importantly, create ^^

Yours sincerely
Diehard@Azeroth

P.S: i didnt post the link for the system for advertising it or w/e, but itll give you a general concept of what im trying to do, atleast one aspect of it >_>.
BTW i also do JASS triggering, so im sure much is possible.

PLEASE GUYS TRUST ME THIS WILL BE AMAZING!

Very interesting indeed. If you wanted to be really realistic, you could do something like the lower your health, the higher your miss chance/lower your speed. Or even a more items you have, the slower you are system. Of course these are both negative.

Some positive things might be - the more armour you have, the greater chance of enemy miss, the more attackspeed you have, the less chance of missing.

You could assign certain attributes to certain skills;
Each point of strength = 0.25% bash
Each point of agility = 0.25% evasion
Each point of intelligence = 0.25% critical strike

So 4 points = 1%, 40 points = 10%, 80 points = 20%

You can add friction, weight and reaction.

Friction could be determined by the terrain tile at a given location.

  • Northrend Ice would have around 0.95 friction, so it would preserve speed overtime.
  • Ashenvale Vines would have around 0.3, being very difficult to walk on it.
Weight could be determined by the unit's Max Health. Bigger the weight, bigger the inercy of its movement. Units with big health can be slow to start accelerating, but their speed will be maintained for more time and they will be less affected by other forces. Units with small health can be easily thrown away by a spell or a bash. (f = m . a)

Reaction can be like, when you do some action to a direction, you are pushed to the opposite with the same force. If a mountain giant does 300 damage in a goblin, the goblin will be pushed outwards with a very high acceleration, since his mass is very low. The reaction of this to the mountain giant would be as though as he received 300 damage in the opposite direction, from the goblin, but it won't have that much impact on him, since he has a lot of mass.

This would make Strenght heroes totally overpowered, but that's how reality is.

So
when its the beta :D
Minigames should be included in things like, horse races, so that people go to the stadium and w8 a time and players run in a race with their horses, if the players are not filling all the spaces they are replaced by Ai computer player

Another thing should be an arcade game in any place where if 2 player stand in the circles around the Arcade they play like, some Mortal Kombat ur something with a hero with a lot of abiites

Other minigame. umm
well casinos,

PaintBall! that could do some nice minigame

Well i hope you succed in this proyect

Bye

thanks reason and death +rep ofc, pretty cool ideas, so mini games and natural disasters ) and real thats pretty cool; im prob only goign to make the systems for making the game more realistic but ill see whatll happen ^^ maybe il need to make a condition system, like Temperature, warm or cold, based on weather and is the unit poisioned or not, stuff like ethat hmm...

I've always loved the prospect of units moving on a moving vehicle of some kind in warcraft 3. Perhaps you could integrate an island feel with boats and such to do such a thing?

Realism is one thing, but do you have a storyline of any kind, or a setting?

You can't make a realistic kind of game in Warcraft. There are too many factors to consider. This is only my point of view.

Ideas:
What about adrenalin / moral ? Are units tired ? Do their equipment is ready for war ?
You are speaking about weather, it would affect units by lots of ways
Rain - Decreases sight range and movement speed, it also increases chance of miss an attack
Snow - Decreases movement speed, reduces hit points every seconds if the unit is not close to a building, reduces attack range

hmm, thanks man, but yea im sure its possible; im not seeming to find fotie anywhere... but il do some realistic systems and hopefully put them in a pack or announce them in a sig or something; thanks goffterdom :p and for the tip real128 ^^ +rep ofc ;D
but damm Goffterdom, ur right about those factors, alot, especialyl the attack range, which maybe can be modified, but damn, yea let me focus on tilesets now :p

If you want a realistic type of game, first of all it shouldn't have Shared Line of Sight between allies. Also, chat can't be global. It should be local, at most players should be able to shout. Private chat and Allies chat can't exist. You should be able to choose a voice intensity, like Whisper/Talk/Shout, having 200/800/2500 range.

Also, it would be interesting if heroes left Blood Footprints when walking on a corpse (or killing someone carelessly), Water Footprints when leaving water, Dirt Footprints, when leaving dirty water, or rough dirt, etc.

It would be more like an investigation game along with everything else.

This is what I said this was impossible to create a realistic kind of game.

You have to focus on a particular aspect of reality, it seems you first focused on War (of course, this is Warcraft !!!) but Cockroach focused on another aspect. You have to find what is really possible in the map you want to do (to avoid a bad gameplay).

So here's my advice: you have to choose what kind of map you want to do before thinking of more "realistic" system.

And about ships, I thought of a system which make them move very slow at start then their speed increase slightly.

thanks man, im doing a realistic systems pack for the hive now, now there is changed movement speed based on the height of terrain (acceleration system) along with the tilesets; so for ex, you can make it so that sand decreases ms by 50 etc, im planning to add more, any ideas bro? ^^ ofc il give idea credits ;P

i wont be able to work on another map until i finish the current map with my partner tho, and im waiting for the model and terrain, and trying to fix other bugs related to sounds and whatever >_<

Hey, the thing for the terrain can be quite useful for my maps.

Let me think...

Sand - Decreases movement speed of mechanical by 40% and others unit by 20%
Grass - Decreases movement speed of mechanical by 10%
Forest Ground (Leaves...) - Decreases movement speed of mechanical by 40% and others units by 10%
Dirt (only when its raining) - Decreases movement speed of mechanical by 30% and others unit by 10%
Snow - Gives a negative hit points regeneration rate, decreases movement speed of mechanical units by 40% and other units by 30%
Solid (Marble, Rocks and so on...) - Increases movement speed of mechanical by 30%

If you can let me know the progressing of this system, it can be very useful for me :)

;P i think iv got an idea to incorporate all you guys' ideas )

thing is im creating a system that has to be customizable by the user, like for ex goffterdom, toinkz and reason3 u should be able to do all of that stuff by customizing the systems ^^

well u guys want lower unit attributes based on weather right? im pretty sure thats possible ;)

just tell me what attributes guys ^^ btw im adding you for idea credits for sure guys

hey goffterdom the movement speed gets lowered or increased based on quantity, like -50 or +50 or something not by % since its more realistic, but im sure i can put a boolean option if ud like :p

In the second page.

For the sandstorm it is already said. What else ?

Fog ? -> Highly decreases sight range

hmm, so il put a weather array and what kind of effects each weather should have through changing variables since its a system; so the things that should be able to be changed might be:

Sight Range
Attack Speed
Hp Deduction
Attack Range

hmm... pretty damn hard list but il try to find systems that can do that... anyways cant do that stuff now since tests and i need to boost my bad GPA :[

Way to change them:
Sight Range: Using a research (like night sight for elven)
Attack Speed (Tauren Chieftain aura)
Hp Deduction (Research or Aura)
Attack Range (Research)
Move Speed (Item ability of chieftain aura)
