A more complicated question about weapon sounds

In my map i want to put emphasis on things other than creeps and npc attack sounds. I was thinking maybe of giving them no attack sound and make them trigger attack sounds through scripts. One of the questions is: will the map lag if every single npc in the map (there are lots) will have their battle sounds triggered? Or is there another way to apply this effect to my map?

How are you even planning to set this up?
Will you use a DDS to detect damage and play a sound in response?

Until you explain exactly how you intend to make this work, no one can guess whether your method will lag or not.
