3DSM - Rotation Keyframes not shown in the Curve Editor

I'm trying to change the values of some bone rotations on a model in 3D Studio Max and although I can see there are keyframes for rotation in both the Dope Sheet and on the timeline, the Curve Editor is refusing to acknowledge their existence. What's going on?

Rotations are quaternions, they can't be simply manipulated through curves because of their interpolating nature. The best bet you have for manipulating them is by setting the rotation controller to TCB and modify the TCB values.

Okay, cool. Currently the bone is set to Smooth Rotation. What will changing it to TCB do for me, exactly?
