2014 Something Else Independence Referendum

Greetings.

Seeing how 2014 appears to be the year of change for many macro political events, it is time for us to surrender to the desires of the common folk.

I noticed that a lot of threads are created in Off-Topic which serve no actual purpose nor have a relevant topic, and useless spamming is just going on. Most of these threads get locked or recycle binned, but seriously, must they turn out to be so?

Back around 2008...-ish, there used to be a sub-forum created specifically for threads about useless topics and 'spam'. It was called Something Else. Many other websites have a similar forum (Flood, Off-Topic or simply Spam forum) and yes, it is usually the most active forum on those websites, but that too shows how there is a need for it.

People go online to have fun. People come here too to have fun and since those people who don't play Warcraft (but are still here) are limited in their opportunities to do so, they spam OT, SD, Warcraft forums, chat, etc.

This would:

• Decrease staff workload
• Increase the fun factor
• Decrease spam in other forums
• Increase general site activity

Therefore, I would like to forward a petition to bring back SE. Please sign if you agree.

The old rule applies: People won't spam less because you remove their spam forum; they'll just spam elsewhere.

Spam makes you looks stupid. It shows that you are getting trouble in controlling your own brain. When your brain's going crazy, then you just go with it.
Be mature.

Spamming is not the only way to have fun here. I indeed often post senseless things around, and that makes me looks stupid and immature either. But that is one elegant way to be stupid more than spamming.

Beside, you can also go to chat room to spam anything you want and as much as you want. And it's fun to talk with people there.

You're right, Dalvengyr. Your highly mature and educated opinion won't change the fact that there are still people around who spam.

Think of spam like say, graffiti. Graffiti is ugly, destructive and thus, forbidden, but since our government could not eradicate it entirely, they instead legalized it in some areas of the capital city. Same applies to weapons, weed, porn, prostitution and other controversial social phenomena in some countries.

Governments found that they could not eradicate these issues, thus they created a separate platform for it where people could outlive their needs but in an area where it does not disturb others.

Something Else is the same. It would be the red light district of THW.
