  • "If you were in the middle and want to continue on newer patch, download file ExodusTheVioletGateAllChaptersUnlocked."
It's not necessary to upload a whole new file. For example, just make a dummy map which uses the game cache to unlock the chapter/map the player has reached before the update. Basically, make a variable after each chapter is completed to be saved in the game cache so the dummy map checks for those.

Yeah, I've seen this in several campaigns. I admit I picked the lazy solution, being after several cycles of patching, bugfixing and releasing and just wanting to move on to making the sequel campaign.
Heyo, are you still planning to update your Cutscene system?
    Macielos
    Macielos
Thanks for reminding me. One day, definitely yes ;). I will surely be working on it to use in my next campaign. For now I have all the features I need, but later I plan to add better support for sound files and probably auto-using trigger queue. Sorry, I know you asked for documentation long ago, but I somehow lacked time and inspiration to write it, and I was mostly preoccupied with expanding and patching my previous campaign as well as "real life" issues. In the meantime, if you tried using it and have some specific questions, I'll be glad to help, and maybe this will guide me where to start writing this documentation.

    That's good to hear!

I think your system is probably in a good enough state to be approved regardless of some of the remaining issues. I'll give it recommended and when you add the documentation, I'll bump it up to HQ.

This Yarvin sounds awfully like the trumpist/corporate version of Aleksandr Dugin. Shit's getting real.

Although the rise of MAGA is at least partially caused by earlier domination of left-wing activitsts in media, culture, universities, corporations, etc. Polarisation of public debate radicalizes both sides.

The US will probably somehow endure Trump. I'm more worried about the rest of the world as since his first days in the office Trump began dismantling US soft power by appeasing Russia and betraying US allies. But at least Europe seems to be finally waking up and start arming itself.

Yeah, there's always a choice. A couple of months ago I decided to limit my activity in social media, also due to reasons above. I haven't visited Facebook for more than a month now. The only "social media" I visit regularly is Youtube and Hive :p.

On the other hand culture, media and social media becoming stupid is a price of them becoming mass. And they bombard us with ads so that we don't have to pay for access to plenty of content, also valuable one. To some degree it's unavoidable. In the past people's daily routines were driven e.g. by religion, then by nationalism, other ideologies, TV and newspapers. In any system an individual has to be mindful and self-aware.

    That's great what you did.
I've been using HIVE and YouTube (when needed) also, no other social media.

Interesting. I always liked the term and found it cool to use in various sci-fi and some fantasy settings, but I've never checked its origins. So thanks for the link.

However, it's easy to show why this idea is flawed - its based on central planning. And central plannists, even if they are the most skilled and educated scientists and engineers making the most advanced mathematical models, have no actual data to make proper economic decisions about the economy as a whole. Because this data is dispersed across millions of actors trying to produce, buy and sell stuff. And it shifts all the time. Only the market with its price system allows them to decide what to produce and whom to sell it.

Also, I love this quote, so analogical to what people say about true socialism and communism.
"By definition of what the technocrat theorists argued; technocracy hasn't truly been implemented."

Unlike them, capitalism has been implemented and works, even if applied only partially, coexisting with some state regulations and services.

Agreed, American patent system is pathological and far from being "free market", even though it is private. Range and allowed length of patents should be drastically reduced, as well as tactics to prolong patents described in the video. But of course, I don't know the best approach to accomplish it and prevent the system from being lobbied again. So far, the healthcare reforms proposed by democrats were making the problems worse by not touching the patent system, but instead having the federal budget subsidy healthcare for elder people, unemployed etc., giving even more incentives to prices rise.

Fellow Alteracian, I just swung by to say WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

Definitely Alterac needs more recognition and lore depth after how sparingly it was treated in WoW.

If you haven't already, be sure to play our campaign which, although we play as Lordaeron survivors, features an important Alteraci sub-plot ;).

Thanks, might give this one a go. PerenoldeII said he was doing an Alterac themed campaign, which is funny b/c I had at one point thought about doing something similar, then life sort of got in the way of having to learn all the stuff needed to make a campaign good (or functional via triggers).

A toast to too-big-to-fall corporations earning shitloads of money on government contracts and state-backed intellectual property laws ;).

No institution - private or public - is invulnerable to errors, mismanagement, denying responsibility, blame games and utter incurable stupidity. The catch is how to make maximally effective system of making people correcting errors, learn from them and punishing those who refuse to do so. There is no perfect solution, but there are ways to bring us closer to this - the market, rule of law, pluralism, etc.

Did you read it? Because that's completely not what it is about, rather how people from all over the world "unknowingly" work together to produce lots of different goods needed to finally produce a pencil. Even though a pencil is simple, no single person on the world knows how to produce a pencil from scratch.

Everyone would love their job to be protected so he could earn a lot, but that would also mean consumers pay a lot for the products. I'm for the consumers here. Plus for hundreds of millions of workers from third world countries that globalization pulled out of poverty. We seem to forget how beneficial the 90s and 2000s were for e.g. India, China, Thailand, Malesia, etc.

Even though some companies and sectors may be in loss, free trade is in summary beneficial also for more advanced economies - the key factor is this: What Is Comparative Advantage?

As per famous quote attributed to Frederic Bastiat said, “When goods don't cross borders, soldiers will". Protectionism means countries are more eager to go to wars and less eager to trade. Globalisation means global wars are not profittable for main players. The trend of protectionism being first steps to wars was true in the 30s and unfortunately now we see lots of analogies with West-Russia and West-China tensions.
Hello macielos, a pleasure, I introduce myself, I am Tirion Vadin, I am writing to ask you for the permission for the translation to spanish of the campaign exodus: the violet gate, this in order that those people who only speak Spanish, can play it, entertain themselves and above all enjoy such a wonderful story, clearly, respecting your copyright and those of your partner, my only intention is to translate it and provide those who will transmit in different media such as youtube, twich, among others, a campaign in their native language, I remain attentive to your response, thank you, again a pleasure, happy new year!!!!
Radical is a dangerous word. Capitalism by itself for the sake of wealth gaining and allegedly generating, is wasteful.

There is no perfect or singular political-economical system. It's a mix of strategies, a bit of everything but under supervision and in balance.
    Macielos
    Macielos
On that I can agree, although there are certain solutions historically more proven then others. "The truth is not in the middle, the truth is where it is" ;).

Anyway, I think we exhausted the topic, so thank you for a constructive discussion, a one I didn't have a lot recently while spending too much time on discussion groups on Facebook :p.

Not particularly sure how those heaps where the bridges are put on are made but if they are not editor cliffs and just raised terrain (same level) for the strategy gameplay part it's important as there will be visibility from down to up and there won't be any miss change for those attacking from below.

Yeah, it's just raised terrain. I know we're missing the visibility/miss chance features of classic blizz cliffs, but we decided to go on with this tradeoff as Blizz cliffs do not fit our terrain and they simply look ugly.
    deepstrasz

I guess some workarounds could be made, hiding the cliffs with rock/whatever doodads and either also hiding ramp margins or adding doodad/destructible ramps (not sure on the smoothness of unit movement for this last one, though).
    Macielos
    Macielos
Well, I partially did that in chapter 02 (which I originally made from extended Blizz map using Blizz cliffs and then "upgraded" to hide them under rock doodads), but it creates tones of problems and limitations and in the later maps we decided it's not worth the effort.
    Hello sir.

Curious: Which software you used for AI-generated voice lines in the campaign? I tinkered with the concept myself earlier this year for plenty of hours, but the free services I tried all produced quite poor results, particularly with the intonation.

For example, I tried to make the AI say "Spirits! Lend us your aid one last time!" and sometimes it would whisper the "Spirits!" part, or put an intonation indicating a question at the end of the sentence, and stupid stuff like that. So it took like 30 minutes to create a 5 seconds long voice with the right intonation.

    Thank you for the info.
I checked this service back then and the free version was somewhat lackluster and the free selection of voices is also sparse.
I might look into the paid version. Thanks for taking the time to answer!

Hey Macielos! I love your campiagn! But I am a bit sad because some people think that it is lame and boring and stuff like that. Well no, your campaign is really great, and I think that it deserves a Director's Cut award. Well, good luck my friend, see you around!
