HIVE

Oh no-no-no-no-no-no

I'm on the chopping block right now :)

Wrath of the Kaiser infantry models might be next, since their faces are edits from Freedom Force - which will bring the death toll up from 44 to 107

Fucking site rules make the models section very stagnant and backwater and soon or later, hive will become xgm. And yes, demotivates more modellers like you. Those of your models are not supposed to be deleted because those are 'models' and how the fuck they must be gone because of skin rips. Why don't they make models and skins rather than chopping of models in hive? See, models section is almost dead and super overacting and unrealistic rules make it deader. -_- I am really triggered and angered by this news.

@Battleborn you are mistaken.
Xgm has more easier rules for rips than Hive and does allow rips to be posted. I would not say that xgm got stale, they just branched off into more than just wc3 modding. That thinned their userbase for the w3 stuff sure, but that's just how things go.

Also, I don't think you would be interested in the whole Hive being taken down because we host ripped material from other games, right?
Rules are there to make the every day ongoings of the site easier for everyone and to make sure that the site can still exist.
But who am I talking to, right?

I'm quite sad to hear this. You're one of the better modellers on this site.

@General Frank - but the whole models themselves are 100% made by hand by Mr. Herrdave right? Despite the accused ripped textures, I think admins could consider keeping them (substandard or some place be) as of not losing a top modeller or maybe not discouraging him from doing his stuff and not losing the 'will' and 'energy'? Or for the sake of the effort for shaping the resources he made, the time invested. Well, this is really sad.
General Frank
General Frank
@Battleborn I agree, but rules are rules.
The thing would have been much easier if he said that the textures were taken from other games. A clear declaration would not have been a hard thing to do and EVERYONE would have welcomed the honesty.

And knowing HerrDave would not be so easily discouraged. That's for sure.

@General Frank - Well okay if those are rules, then so be it. However, everybody or in majority, I think, even those guys who made the game (if I am right, abandonware?), will lightly and easily allow him and accept the said ripping of some portions of textures. Or... he could just edit his post to declare the textures are not made from scratch and so the stuff, models themselves can be saved, safe and sound rather than ordered/forced deleting a large number of them.

Let's hope Herrdave would not cave in and hope him regards with high energy.

No one directly ordered these models to be removed, you know.

Oh, he said he is acting under orders of hive staffs and will be taken down permanently etc etc, that is what I thought earlier based on what was said. Well, I know you will not at least let those a big ton of models be gone somehow, since you got the power to keep stuff there and power to trash them too.
General Frank
General Frank
Honestly, everyone makes mistakes. I know you did and I have had a few in the past.
The art in it is how to deal with it. It has been dealt with poorly and this whole thing blew up, because people like you make it a much bigger thing as it actually is. You should always consider on what grounds you say what things. If you say things that are against the very thing you are standing in, maybe you are one being totally wrong...
HerrDave
HerrDave
"People like Them" are why I stick around, General Frank.

Ralle himself said I did well to remove the ripped content.
If I am a thief, as you say - what business do I have to keep them, especially when they affect your image?

This has killed both my War of the Ring revival project, and Wrath of the Kaiser is next for the noose.

Yes, those people who scream the loudest, contribute the least and are not aware what the circumstances of the situation are. Yes, 'those' people.

Don't make yourself the victim here, please.

I know it is hard to remove good work, but you had plenty of time to get things straight and you did not.
You said yourself that you are a thief. All I said was that you didn't care to say you did rip them. That's all.
I am sorry it 'killed' your project, but I honestly do not care.
Hazop

Didn't you say you could still use the resources? Just not have them posted? I don't see how just not posting them could kill your work. Or am I miss-understanding?

I can't upload the models
&
I can't upload my map(s) because they have the same models in them
Hazop
Hazop
Well that's absurd... At first when you said you could still publish the maps I was relived. But hearing this I feel like they've gone a tad bit too far..

Okay I wasn't going to make a comment until I saw this misleading post. First off, no one in Staff told you to take down anything; you took them down yourself before we even finished our discussion. We said we would restrict your models because of an agreement we have with Blizzard, so this literally has nothing to do with you personally. Second, we have already told you that you can still upload your project, you just can't upload the standalone assets. Stop spreading this nonsense and causing unnecessary drama.

The 2nd half is news to me, which I'm glad to hear.

The 1st half I challenge.
I'd like to hear exactly what Ralle thinks should happen, or should have happened.

Quoting Ralle directly from the thread:

"Legally I think it might still not be allowed for us to host so it's probably more safe to restrict it."
