It is simply another way of doing function interfaces. A parent struct can have a stub method "Joe" which performs certain "default" behavior. A child struct which extends parent can have a method named "Joe" and when the parent struct calls "Joe" it skips the "stub method" and evaluates the method in the child struct, instead.
