I think that's because of the shading, because moon is supposed to be bright. Also, try enlarging the crosses, because they are hardly visible and easy-to-understand in the actual icon.

Yes, the main objective is distace the brightness of the moon.

As the crosses I used the same size as the original Blizzard icon Reincarnation, but if necessary I'll change

The craters of the moon can not be seen from Earth without a telescope.

Unfortunately I do not think that should change the number of crosses.
Will change only the brightness of the moon

A little more shadows are visible though:

I think that you should add at least 1 more(bigger) cross or make the current ones bigger. They are hardly visible now, so the cemetary effect is lost. They don't have to bemuch bigger, just a little.
