It looks great, but I think it might look a lot better if the hand was naturally toned and instead had powerful green highlights emitting from the orb.

Well yes it is my ref picture. I love drawing hands, I am just not
good at it.
Same, it's hard to get the shape right.
Good icon though. I find the color to be perfect, fits the tone.

Your bigger problems are shading, well, the light source its between fingers but most shadings are from right side of icon. Give me please permission and i will add correct shading inhere.
