yes, I agree with the four points above. I guess it looks a bit like alive. it is brighter than all other icons. it kinda pops out. in a way. but I like the idea of having more scroll's here :3
The black outline isn't actually a problem.
The paper, corresponding with the rune, is.
First of, the darkened top right scrolled part of the scroll definitely needs to be even darker but note that the whole layer in that spot needs to be stronger shaded to the left than to the right.
I also recommend to add smaller variations and details to the paper itself, such as smaller runes accenting the main rune or little cracks. Be creative.
This pergament is very old. To look like this, a paper has to pass a million of hands and has to be dropped several times. If you handle the scroll with care, it will stay withe and clean for several years.
(And think over the life of an scroll in WCIII: Its produced, delivered, lays in stock for a while, gets bought and used some days later on the battlefield. Not much chances to get worn out. )
