By the look of it and the spike on one end it seems to be a late medieval cavalry axe

It might be an idea to zoom in so that the axe covers more of the icon, and make the background less dominant?

However, I'm kinda sick of the closeup weapon icons and I think there should be at least one set of zoomed out weapon icons.

Its a 64x64 Icon.
Details obfuscate the icon, Its cleaner, easier to make, and better looking when you go for structure over micro detail, as too many (details) in a small medium like this just clouds the actual object/subject.
