Hawkwing: The lightning is too smooth and curvy. It should be very sharp and jagged. There's also a lack of contrast between the lightning and orb. I suggest you make the orb more of a deep blue; Not dark.. deep.

Although the lightning could be seen as web, try to make it a bit longer and straighter.

lightning ... you need clouds to create lightning. Clouds are darker.
--> Conclusion: darken the orb.
