Review - Bane Burrow
(Version March 28th 2023)
Synopsis: Bane Burrow is a two-player melee map featuring an ominous setting: a sandy, outlandish battle arena surrounded by void. The visually pleasing melee map has some unusual features, such as an unguarded Mercenary Camp.
Map Aesthetics: The map is aesthetically really pleasing. The red hues of Black Citadel are mixed in beautifully with the sandy tones and the vibrant green gives a good contrast with the otherwise pale colors. Visual clarity is good and easy to read. The only negative aspect is caused by the black void tile, giving a white-grid sparking through the texture - this could be fixed by having the black void tile as the first listed tile in the palette (the bottom-most in layer order), although this, of course, changes the order of the tiles visually.
Map Layout: The layout looks nice, offering various pathways to route through. The high-ground pathways can be played around with and the unguarded Mercenary Camp as well as the relatively exposed Marketplace can offer an interesting and strategic twist. The openings and corridors seem appropriate size.
Neutral Objectives: Neutral objectives look satisfactory and very fitting to the thematic aspects of the map, with some uncommon options used. Interesting placement of Marketplace - it looks a little wonky, but it serves a gameplay purpose. Good placement of expansion mines - it's quite interesting to have an expansion mine that close to the starting location, but I like that it's the more heavily guarded one. Good placement of creeps.
Map Gameplay: Overall a quality melee map for two players. Visually pleasing and it brings thematic uniqueness. Good job.

Recommendations:
Consider changing the tile order of the Black Void to be the first tile to avoid visual glitches (see picture attached).
