The model works with some few issues on her cape freezing on her death and twitching once on her dissipate but it should be minor and shouldn't affect cinematics or cutscenes. The design is very unique and it is clear that the model is well done and...

She had a good amount of appearances, but she will be back again in the next WoW Expansion...The War Within...

Her cape is stiff during Dissipate so update would be appreciated, but great model in general.

The design is very unique and it is clear that the model is well done and highly desirable. However, it's only RECOMMENDED for me.

For HIGH QUALITY: address the cape issues, give her Spell Slam and non-attack Spell animations, Spell Throw isn't necessary but it's a welcome change. Also, add some more autonomous movement on her two orbs like put them on one parented animation bone each and add some movement on all animations (shouldn't be hard, like they would only need around 3-4 keyframes each animation).

Such a great model, however the only issue I have which is with every single model based off the Sorceress, is that all the attack animations are the same as the spell animations which is the standard unite. Maybe change the Stand 2 to a Spell Animation so it leaves Stand 3 as the only other stand animation for these kinds of models. It adds more to the hero unite type model instead of just changing death and adding dissipate to a Sorceress. Just a nitpick I have with every Sorceress model base for Female Hero Unites that float.

DDS is disgusting garbage. I have a similar model with a BLP texture, and it looks much better and is of higher quality, but it's only a few MB. This model is incredibly large, which will slow down upload and download speeds. It also uses 27 textures, which is problematic even with compression. Furthermore, when opening xalatath_cape_orm.dds in Photoshop, the background is simply scratched. I would recommend combining everything into a single texture to improve quality or compression, and only opening it once. I recommend fixing this by using a single texture instead of 27.
Since you have a better model, use that one then.

Oracle: 7mb It has only 2 textures.
Xal'atath: 66 MB These 27 textures are not optimized for size.

But overall, in terms of aesthetic quality, they look the same in the game.

The maximum map size that can be uploaded to Epic War is 400 MB.
Official Map Size Limits by Version:
  • Before Patch 1.24b4 MB. The strictest limit of the early Battle.net era. Mapmakers had to heavily compress textures just to get the map to load.
  • Patches 1.24b – 1.26a8 MB. The golden age of classic Warcraft 3. This limit defined legendary versions of DotA Allstars, early RPGs, and maps like Footman Frenzy.
  • Patches 1.27b – 1.31128 MB. Blizzard officially expanded the limit in late 2016 (Patch 1.27b), which triggered a massive wave of complex anime-RPGs and maps with custom graphics.
  • Reforged Era (Before Patch 2.0)256 MB. The limit the game used for several years following the release of the remastered version.
  • Version 2.0 (and newer)500 MB. The current official standard, introduced in the massive Patch 2.0 update.

It has one texture because it only changed one ingame diffuse layer texture, other parts are raw simple reforged assets kitbash. That fresnel layer of the ghost is not even removed. This model was made before Blizzard ever released WoW Xal’atath model, much more details were needed to be modified to make it as close as possible to the concept art. Between a lore-accurate character model and a random kitbashed unit, I really can’t see where is the similarity except the same sorceress animation set. The SD paper model age is over for reforged, one footman contains 16 ingame textures while classic footman only has 1. Famous campaign projects like CSW and RRF are requiring players to install asset packs to address this common size issue. If you really want to use this model, maybe try to suggest Epic War to add some kinds of custom map asset pack feature. Again I’m not the one to force you to use this model, as well as you are not the one who commissioned this model. If this one doesn’t suit your project and you don’t like it. Just rate it one star and forget about it, I and many other modelers have posted plenty of other simply edited models with fewer or even 0 custom texture you can make use of. There is also a WoW ported Xal’atath model on hive as well, supposedly also sponsored by MissingShadowsong.

Stop spouting nonsense here to mislead people and cloud their judgment. The quality of the models made by Vindorei is plain for all to see, and you have no right to make unsolicited critical remarks. Are you still engaging in triangulation here? Who exactly are you trying to put on a show for?

Thank you for supporting me, yet everyone is welcomed to criticize my works and I admit that most of my models have too many custom textures as a compromise to reflect the lore-accurate design. What makes me upset is our friend started this with “garbage DDS” theory and comparing people’s models. If he asked politely, I don’t mind fixing them later when I have time. I just don’t understand where did this bossy tone come from like someone owns the entire Hive Workshop. We are in an inclusive age where I’m in no position to judge anyone’s aesthetic taste and open for all kinds of friendly critiques, however I also urge people to not make such comparisons for every model uploaded here is a generous contribution to the community.
