[Solved] World of Warcraft location icons

I'm looking for decent quality versions of the location icons from the WoW map, e.g. these:


They should be at least 2-3 times the size of this screenshot to be usable. Preferably transparent PNGs, but high-resolution screenshots of the ingame map also works.

Can't they be extracted from the game files like you can with some Warcraft III ones?

I hope so, but I don't wanna install WoW just for that xD Hoping someone who already has it installed can inspect the game files and/or take hi-res screenshots of some ingame maps.

As far as I can see, they're directly embedded in the map files, so taking a screenshot is as good as it'll get

If that is indeed the case, perhaps, some scraping and AI retouching of all needed symbols?

That's too bad, is this the best a screenshot can get? Because that's unusable for my purposes. Compare to the one on WC3 campaign loading screens:

I was mostly looking for the Northshire Abbey icon, and also the tower icon. Some others would be nice as well, the ones that aren't used on the campaign screens.

I extracted the Northshire Abbey image from the WoW files and used an AI image upscaler. With some GIMP shenanigans I managed to make a pretty decent semi-transparent image out of it.

Cool stuff, loading screen templates and icons to make WoW/Warcraft style stuff is always handy. I'll be keen to see how this turns out.

Would be nice for someone to curate all of them into a ported UI stuff bundle/pack for everyone to use and make their maps. Could even crop roads, mountains, maybe someone could even make a program similar to Inkarnate or something xD

Here's all the icons I have. I make the "glow" like this:

• Alpha to selection
• Grow by 1px, fill with 30% #ffdd30 (in new layer)
• Grow by 1px, fill with 10% #ffdd30 (in new new layer)
