Well, i am trying to create different worker units, like instead of the normal peasants i want to use the villager male, either version 1 or 2. but ive gotten a bit lost with the sounds for them. i have just been testing as a go to make sure things are working correctly, the villager is able to mine, he can chop trees and attack both with sounds, but he has no building sound. like how when peons or peasants are building or repairing you get that repairing sound. i tried to change the 'unit sound set' to peasant to see if that made a difference but it doesnt. if i have a peasant building on the same map it makes the regular sound but the villager does not.
i have the villagers abilities set to the same as the peasants and ive given him a couple normal human buildings to test with he is also classified as a worker. he even swings a pickaxe while building/repairing the normal peasants do.

i created it as a custom unit in the object editor. and i cant seem to find where the peasants gets the repair sound from through the sound editor menu since under the peasants folder it only has the normal sounds for pissed, ready, what, yes.. and the repair sound is under abilities, which i thought meant that any unit with that ability would make that sound.
i did try to just copy the peasant and then replace the art model with the villager but even with that it doesnt make any sounds while building/repairing
so yeah how would i get the repair ability sound to work with a villager. hope i gave enough info, and thanks in advance for any help!

Are the villager workers also building custom structures?

There is a section for structures called "building sound loop" in the sound section of the object editor.
Could that be the problem?

nope, no custom buildings yet i was just trying it with the regular human buildings specifically the farms... i had even just copied the peasant so everything was exactly the same as the peasants and then just changed the model to villager male and the sound is gone. and while in the same map test with a custom worker and regular peasant, the peasants make the sound but the custom ones dont...

i tried creating a custom sound using the same repair sound files in one and imported it, and then made a trigger for whenever a construction is started, if it is using the repair (human) it plays the sound and when its finished it stops the sound. well that kinda works but the timing is like impossible to match up with the swings so it just looks and sound terrible, it just doesnt work the way id like it to.

Hm. I've got custom workers too in one of my projects, but never really paid attention to construction sounds.
Have you tried modifying the "Sound - Effect Sound (Looping)" field for the "Repair" ability?

well i just tried the 'sound - effect sound (looping)' and that makes it make the sound like a billion times a second lol even when a pause menu is open. so i tried just the regular 'sound - effect sound' and that sadly only makes the sound the first time its used and then all the other swings dont make a sound unless you make him stop and repair again.
what a frustrating thing haha i know for most people it probably wouldnt bother them but its sooo annoying when you notice theres no sound with it.

Maybe you can put a different sound in the loop. That's the only other thing I can think of.
Something like a "smack", but with a longer play time?
I know there's combat or animation sounds like that.

they do sound a bit better but still plays when you open the quest, menu, logs.
do you know if theres a trigger maybe that i could set to stop all sounds if a menu is open?

i may go back to the custom sound and try tweaking it, since you can set the swing to take as long as you want id just have to have the sound the same length as the swing takes to complete.

any other ideas are always welcome xD

The problems the model...
The Peasant Model I think has the Repair sound...
Not the villager..
ah yes... thats what i kinda thought after looking up more about the models and animations and that some have the sounds attached to them instead.. well time to see if i can make an animation with the sounds added to it xP
