Will this do for gaming?

Hello, I've been looking around for a new computer and I found this one for 959€.

Inet eXperienced Gamer Intel Core 2 Duo E8500 3.16GHz / 4096MB / 640GB / DVDRW / Win Vista Home Premium.

Is this worth the price, will it do for gaming etc?

By video card you mean graphic card no?

If so it's a GeForce 9800GT.

Also I don't think that I'd be able to create my own computer becouse I'm not really that good at it.

eh.... 9800GT's are a bit aged, but still decent.

What is the mhz and timing's of the ram?

Edit: and instead of Vista, get Windows 7, make sure you go for the 64-bit

Building a computer is easy, trust me. Most people over 13 can do it fine.
If you build, you could get a video (graphic) card that's heads and shoulders better.

Hmm, well maybe I should build my own computer then. However I've decided that I should wait a little more before getting a new computer

It shouldn't have too much of a problem, he won't be playing Crysis at 1080p rez with High settings or anything, but it'll do.

It definitely won't run Crysis at Medium, even at 1024x768

But Crysis's gameplay sucks anyways, most Good games will run fine.

It should be able to play Crysis at High, because I have a GeForce 7600GT and I play with 1280x1024 with the other settings over medium and some of them on highest.

Swap the OS for Win7 64-bit if possible, and I'd try to get a quad core processor. Everything else seems decent enough to me.

I got my rig for slightly more than yours, 1200€ add or take, and these are my specs:

Inter Core2 Quad Q9550 @2.83GHz
4096 GB 1333MHz RAM
XFX GeForce GTX280 graphics
Samsung Spinpoint 2x 500GB HDD
Sony DVD-RW
Vista Home Premium
+ other no so significant additions (but useful and not cheap), like Creative X-Fi soundcard

With everything I ended up at around 1500€.
In short, the offer you found is not exactly a good price.
Edit: Also remember I bought this a year ago, and the same rig would cost much less today.

Yeah it would, my rig cost about $1600 and has Dual GTX 280s, Core i7 2.66GHz, and 6GB DDR3 @ 1600MHZ, lol.

Shut up you American! I spent around $1000 and only got an E8400, 4GB DD2@800mhz, and 1 4870 512 mb card.

Well lucky for you..... My PC cost 1700£ and has I7 + 275 + 6 GB DDR1600 RAM + 2 TB HDD + 2*300GB raid1 raptors. + Vista 64 bits with free upgrade to W7. It also has 3 year garuntee or something + lifelong for the RAM which is good. This means if anything breaks I can send it and get an imediate replacement and never had the problem of setting it up (its a maze of cables).

The problem is tax, you end up paying 20% more just because of TAX. It was only like 1700 dollars until VAT was added.

If you get a PC, it should come with Vista 64 with upgrade voucher to windows 7. This means that as soon as it is released you get to upgrade without reinstall for free. That way you are always fully supported.

I know, and they aren't as fast as the 15k rpm scuzzy drives, which are about the same price.

Raptor's are overpriced from reputation, like Antec 900's.

Actually, the 9800GT has one difference, more of them can do Tri-SLI

And a couple are dieshrunk.

Though Crysis does suck :/

At this point in time, I would advise waiting a few months for the geforce 300 series to be released. Eithor get a discount 300 card with full hardware DX11 support or a cheaper high end 200 card as they should also drop in price.
